1.0 INTRODUCTION
The Mayan Calendar System (MCS) was developed in antiquity to track the
movement of planets and stars as observed from earth, allowing for the prediction
of alignments and the understanding of long-term cycles such as the precession of
the equinoxes.
The astronomical phenomena of the MCS are the following; solstices and
equinoxes; zenith crossings; astronomical alignments, lunar and solar eclipses;
solar flare cycles, zodiacal movements and the precession of the equinoxes. These
astronomical phenomena are utilized throughout the MCS as calibration markers to
assure the exactness of the system.
The MCS includes many celestial cycles revolving around one cycle known as the
“Tzolkin” or “Tonalamatl”, a 260 day constant consisting of 20 months of 13 days
each, unique to Mesoamerica. Other examples of artificial whole number calendars
used for calculation purposes are the “Haab” or 365 day solar calendar and the
“Tun” or 360 day sacred calendar. At the heart of the MCS stands the “Kin” or earth
day.
According to Mayan Cosmology, planet Earth follows a dissonant orbital period due
to unknown factors, possibly a cosmic accident such as a collision of a major astral
body with Earth. To offset this disharmony, the MCS is designed to more closely
reflect the movements of the cosmos, precession of the equinoxes, alignment to
the Galactic Center and the Pleiades, on earth.
The use of the whole number calendars results in one major challenge; how to
correlate the “artificial” whole number cycles with the real synodic and sidereal
decimal cycles? The problem is addressed through the tracking of the Tzolkin’s
continual 260 day movement and the adherence to ceremonies and calibrations at
set periods based on conjunctions of the Tzolkin with major astronomical bodies,
such as; the Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, the Pleiades, the Galactic
Center and Earth; and astronomical phenomena, including; zenith crossings,

solstices, equinoxes, lunar nodes (eclipses), solar flares and the precession of the
equinoxes. The MCS utilizes these celestial bodies and phenomena as the
markers to calibrate the abstract calendar system with the real observed cycles.
The MCS tracks short and long-term alignments of multiple heavenly bodies and
phenomena to begin and end the cycles of the timing instrument. The Great Year,
in which the primary sub-cycles are embedded, originated 5,125 years ago and is
set to complete on December 21, 2012 at sunrise as the rising Solstice Sun aligns
with the center of our Galaxy, where a Super-massive Black Hole or perhaps a
Mini-Quasar*, resides as the “engine” of our galaxy.
• The black hole or mini-Quasar at the center of our Galaxy is estimated at 2.5 million times
more mass than the Sun. (source: The Mystery of 2012 and Black Holes, Quasars, & The
Universe )
The Mayan system represents perfect resonance, which can only result in
total annihilation .... no-thing-ness. The observed celestial cycles vary
slightly from the perfect, mathematical-based Mayan system, yet can be
tracked methodically through regular calibration of both systems and the
celebration of key alignments. These alignments are portals to other
dimensions and frequencies, the importance and impact of the portals are
directly related to the magnitude of the alignment.

3.0 260 DAY TZOLKIN CALENDAR
One calendar stands out and is known as the “Tzolkin” or “Tonalpohualli”. The
Tzolkin calendar is unique to Mesoamerica and its exact origin is unknown,
although it was used proficiently by the Olmecs over 4,000 years ago and
perfected to an even higher degree by the Maya and utilized by every significant
culture in Mesoamerica. The Tzolkin follows a 13:20 ratio, or harmonic, and
consists of 20 day-signs coupled to 13 numbers for a total of 260 unique positions
deal with Cosmic dynamics. The primary function of the Tzolkin is to calibrate
the observable celestial and the artificial conceived cycles into one
integrated system. The Tzolkin is the Universal Constant, that is, in its form it
remains the same no matter what heavenly body or location we choose to observe,
repeating the 260 possibilities infinitely as a super-calibrator.
MCS_December 2012
Mayan Calendar System, cc 2004 - 2012, Mexico City, Detroit, Michigan
The exact origin, function and design of the Tzolkin is highly debated. Amongst its
myriad functions, the Tzolkin serves as a tuning device for the whole calendar
system as its continual motion requires no adjustment. As author John Major
Jenkins states, “All the planetary periods are related harmoniously through the 260
day constant.” (Jenkins, Mayan Cosmogenesis 2012) Regarding the origin of the
calendar he goes on to say; “… if we look at its uses, we find that there are many.
It applies to celestial, biological, agricultural, mythological and chronological
processes. To try to boil it down to one ‘real’ origin is missing the point. It has, as
an essential characteristic, what I call ‘multiple meanings’” (Jenkins, Tzolkin, pg.
111)
The Tzolkin is the hub of the MCS as it relates all the calendars in the system
through periodic calibrations due to the mathematical properties of the number
260, specifically the interplay of the numbers; 13, 18, 20 and 4. The Tzolkin serves
as the mechanism allowing for the artificial and real periods to be aligned at
specific points as well as the accurate prediction of future astronomical alignments
and phenomena.
3.1 260 Kin (days) Origins:
1. The time period from planting to harvest for corn is approximately 260 days
2. The time period between Venus first appearing as evening star and Venus
appearance as morning star is 258 days
3. At the latitude of Izapa, exactly 260 days pass between Zenith crossings
4. The Human gestation period of approximately 260 days or 9 months
5. The 20 fingers and toes multiplied by the 13 major joints
6. Derived from the interplay of the key numbers; 13 (7 + 6) and 20 (5 x 4)
7. 3 solar-flare pulses of 86.666 days each (verified by modern science)
8. There are 20 amino acids that make up all known organic life

The Tzolkin is composed of 20 day-signs and 13 numbers. Each day-sign is
associated with each of the 13 numbers to create 260 unique day-sign/number
combinations. The 20 day-signs can also represent the 20 elements out of which
all of our reality is constructed. As a note, modern science assigns 20 amino acids
to all living things. The 13 numbers represent 13 different frequencies or tones
applied to each of the 20 elements. A person born into the Mayan civilization would
be assigned an element and frequency in accordance with their birth day-sign.
3.3 The 13 Numbers of the Tzolkin
Each of the 13 numbers is a frequency and consists of the number itself and a

3.3 The Fractal Nature of the 260 Unique Permutations
The Tzolkin grid of 260 unique permutations or fractions applies to levels of linear
time in a fractal pattern. The information below shows five such levels, each
reflecting the 260 positions in continual movement. A Tzolkin represents 260
fractions, and is a fractal.
Level 1
1 Fraction = 72 minute hour
1 Tzolkin = 13 Days
Level 2
1 Fraction = 1 Day
1 Tzolkin = 260 Days
Level 3
1 Fraction = 1 Tun (360 Days)
1 Tzolkin = 260 Tun (256 years)
Level 4
1 Fraction = 1 Katun (20 Tun, 19.7 years)
1 Tzolkin = 5200 Tun (5,125 Years)
Level 5
1 Fraction = 5,200 Tun
1 Tzolkin = 1,352,000 Tun
Each successive level is embedded in the previous level and represents a whole
unto itself. Resonance takes place between the fractals at each level of the Tzolkin MCS_December 2012
Mayan Calendar System, cc 2004 - 2012, Mexico City, Detroit, Michigan
pattern. For example, the daysign 13 Ahau in the 260 day count is directly
connected to the 13 Ahau in the 13 day subcycle as well as 13 Ahau in the 5200
Tun cycle. The fractal nature of the Tzolkin pattern is central to understanding the
cyclical nature of time.
The fractal nature of the number 26 (13 x 2) can be seen by observing a number of
critical cycles. The 260 day Tzolkin as the heart of the entire system. The 26,000
Tun Precession cycle (5 “Great Years” of 5200 Tun each). As an example of the
intimate relationship between time and space, modern day science pegs our
distance from the center of the Galaxy at 26,000 light years. (source: The Mystery
of 2012.)
3.4 Tzolkin Planetary Influences
The Tzolkin is regulated by the Moon, Jupiter and Saturn. This can be seen in the
Long Count notation, where each place is regulated by an astronomical body or
two astronomical bodies in the following format:
12.19.17.14.09.06Muluc (October 22, 2010)
12 = Baktun, 400 Tun, 144,000 days, represents civilizations, regulated by Mercury
and Uranus. 12 Baktun's of 144,000 days equals 1,728,000 days since the
beginning of the Long Count Calendar in 3114 BC.
19 = Katun, 20 Tun, 7200 days, represents a generation, regulated by Venus and
Neptune. 19 Katun's have passed in the 12th Baktun so we have to now add
136,800 to the 12 Baktuns equalling a total of 1,864,800 days since the beginning
of the Long Count.
17 = Tun, 1 Tun, 360 days, represents the solar year, regulated by Earth. 17 Tuns
have been completed in the current Katun cycle, equalling 6120 days. Adding this
to the previous count of 1,864,800 days results in 1,870,920 days since the
beginning of the Long Count.
MCS_December 2012
Mayan Calendar System, cc 2004 - 2012, Mexico City, Detroit, Michigan
14 = Veintena or Uinal, 20 days, represents the month, regulated by Mars and
Pluto. 14 Veintena's have passed in the current Tun, for a total of 280 days
bringing our total day count to 1,871,200 days.
09 = Kin, represents the day, 1 of 20 numbers in the Uinal (20 day count), part of
the Tzolkin count, regulated by Jupiter. 9 Days have transpired in the current
Veintena, resulting in a grand total of 1,871,209 days since the beginning of the
cycle to the date October 22, 2010.
06 = Kin, represents the day, 1 of 13 numbers in the Trecena or 13 day period,
represents the week, part of the Tzolkin count, regulated by Saturn.
Muluc = Day Symbol, 1 of 20 symbols in the Uinal, part of the Tzolking count,
regulated by the Moon.
It is noticed that the 260 day calendar is primarily regulated by Jupiter and
Saturn, which coincides with the traditional astronomies appointment of
these two heavenily bodies as the «Great Chronocrators of Time» (source:
Encyclopedia of Astronomy, pg. 53)
4.0 THE BASE-20 SYSTEM AND BAR & DOT NOTATION
The Maya looked at numbers in a different way and used the symbols:
= 1, = 5 and = 20, zero or place holder.
The system is counted from bottom up as opposed to our notation from left to right.
The Vigesimal System (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vigesimal) is based on the 20;
each successive level in the numerical hierarchy is 20 times greater than the
previous, setting up a binary log [factor of 20] progression.
Using only a combination of these three symbols, the Maya were able to calculate
all numbers. The value of the bar and dot take on different values at each
successive level of transformation. At the first level, the dot is worth one and the
bar is worth five. At the second level, the dot is worth 20 and the bar 100. At the
third level the dot is worth 400 and the bar 2,000. At the fourth level the dot is worth
MCS_December 2012
Mayan Calendar System, cc 2004 - 2012, Mexico City, Detroit, Michigan
8,000 and the bar 40,000. This progression continues over 13 total levels and the
final value is considered infinite.
The Mayan progression continues through nine primary transformations by
multiples of 20, with one exception. As can be seen below, the factor of nine (18 =
9 x 2) is introduced at the third spot as the Tun of 360 days in place of the
expected 400 days. This introduction of the eighteen in the third order warps the
continued multiple 20 progression from that point on. While our positional
mathematics is decimal-based, that is, advancing by 10s; the Mayan “pure” count
is Vigesimal, advancing by 20s, a logarithmic scale.

*If we make the Tun of 360 the first order in the base-20 system we notice a
regular multiple 20 progression (see the second column). The third spot is now
occupied by the Baktun. The Baktun, or 400 Tun, is associated with the life-span
of civilizations.
5.0 360 DAY TUN CYCLE
The 360 day Tun count is a portal, a door to hyper-dimensions as the completed
circle of 360° allowing for fractal calculations and harmonization with the 260 day
calendar. The Tun is four times more compatible with the Tzolkin than the vague
solar year as both are divisible by twenty, in place of the Tzolkin/Haab (Vague
Solar Year) greatest common denominator of five. The key ratio 13:18 is
established as the harmonic relationship between the artificially conceived Tun and
Tzolkin sacred calendars, as opposed to the ratio of 52:73 between the 365 day
cycle and the Tzolkin. By achieving a stronger resonance with the strategically
placed Tzolkin, the Tun cycle displaces the solar year, creating a new magnetic
center on Earth.
MCS_December 2012
Mayan Calendar System, cc 2004 - 2012, Mexico City, Detroit, Michigan
The Tun count together with the Tzolkin count, represented as the numbers
18 and 13, are the basis for the exactness of the Mayan Calendar. The Maya
constructed their monuments and pyramids to record and orientate these abstract
points in time creating a resonance in tune with the Galactic Center as represented
by the 260 day Tzolkin calendar. The 365 day cycle is a dissonant harmony of the
Universe for unknown, although highly speculated, reasons. The current orbital
period of the Earth around its sun is hypothetically out of sync with the Universe
and thus causes mankind to be out of sync. The Maya have shown a way to
realize a different frequency even though the earth frequency continues to be the
dominating influence. Although this artificially imposed factor seems like no big
deal as 360 and 365 are so close, the enormous difference can be seen very
clearly by the 10th transformation in the base-20 system when a massive
227,945,205 years separates the two systems. Notice the great importance in the
correlation of the abstract calendars with the real observable cycles.
The Tun is the most important cycle after the Tzolkin due to its key position in the
nine level transformation of the base-20 system resulting in a cycle of 16.4 Billion
years, the cycle the MCS pinpoints will culminate in 2012. This cycle is tracked
through the “Long-Count” calendar of 1,872,000 days, in which the Tun holds a
strategic spot as the third place-holder and only deviation from the base-20
system. As the entire MCS is based on a vigesimal system in which the multiplier
is 20 (as opposed to 10 in our decimal system), an exponential curve is created. If
one follows the progression of the vigesimal system through the first 9
transformations we see the following progression:
Order Transformation Number1 0 12 1 203 2 4004 3 80005 4 160,0006 5 3,200,0007 6 64,000,000

8 7 1,280,000,0009 8 25,600,000,000
10 9 512,000,000,000
In the third position is the number 400. Although, this number is harmonious with
the vigesimal system, it does not accurately reflect the yearly orbit of the Earth
around the Sun. The Tun of 360 days was created as a substitute for 400 in the
third position as this number is more exact than the Haab (365) or tropical year
(365.2422) and serves to better harmonize with the Cosmological base-20 system
as 360 can be divided by 20; (360/20 = 18). Taking this into account, the following
9 transformations are created (note that the only deviation or warp from the
base-20 count is in the third position where a multiplier of 18 replaces the
normal multiplier of 20):
Order Transformation Number1 0 12 1 20 (1x20)3 2 360 (20 x 18)4 3 7200 (360 x 20)5 4 144,000 (7200 x 20)6 5 2,880,000 (144,000 x 20)7 6 57,600,000 (2,880,000 x 20)8 7 1,152,000,000 (57,600,000 x 20)9 8 23,040,000,000 (1,152,000,000 x
20)10 9 512,000,000,000
Additional Note: The Tun, or 360 day calendar can also be related to the 360
degrees of the circle as defined by the Babylonians. The 360 tun is also a
representation of the 360 degree circle as it is seen as the complete year, a
more exact year than our solar year of 365.25 days. The Egyptians were also
known to hold to a 360 day “spiritual” calendar.
The Tun holds a critical position in the MCS as the multiplicand of 20 x 18 = 360,
replacing the normal Vigesimal period of 20 x 20 = 400, warping the progression
MCS_December 2012
Mayan Calendar System, cc 2004 - 2012, Mexico City, Detroit, Michigan
from that point onward (ie the fourth transformation is 7200 in place of 8000 and
the fifth; 144,000 in place of 160,000).
The relation of the Tun to the 2012 transformation point can be seen if we focus in
on the fourth transformation which is 144,000 Kin (days). In the Long-Count
Calendar, each level of transformation must undergo 13 evolutionary periods so we
now have the following progression through the first four transformations:
1 x 13 = 13
20 x 13 = 260
360 x 13 = 4680
7200 x 13 = 93, 600
144,000 x 13 = 1,872,000
1,872,000 Kin divided by 360 Kin equals 5200 Tun or 5125 Solar Years, the time
period of the Long-Count Calendar. It is this time that has been pegged by
archaeologists to have begun on August 13, 3114 BC, so if we add 1,872,000 Kin
to that date we arrive at the magical Gregorian date of December 21, 2012. This
period equals one-fifth of the total processional period of 26,000 Tun or 25,625
years.

The 360 day Tun is also a reflection of the Babylonian inspired 360 degree circle,
which is directly related to time. The circle, as divided into 18 periods of 20 degrees
each, is a reflection of the Time-Space continuum. Only when combining with the
explosive exponential potential of the base-20 multiplicand is the circle able to
expand and contract, to breath.
6.0 365 DAY HAAB CYCLE
The Haab or 365 day “vague” calendar (vague because it is not the exact solar
year as measured in decimals), is the mathematical solar constant which combines
with the Tzolkin (and thus the Tun) for the predictive functions of the MCS. The
Greatest common denominator between the Haab and Tzolkin is 5, which creates
a cycle of 18,980 unique days or one “year” for the Maya. 18,980 is reached by
multiplying 365 by 260 and dividing the result by the greatest common
denominator, five.
The Haab consists of 18 months of 20 days each plus an additional five days,
considered bad luck, in which everyone would stay inside, start no new endeavors
and hope no children were born on those five days. The five additional days in the
solar year are seen as out of harmony with the natural number 360 (or, ideally,
400). The Tun displaced the Haab as the primary harmonizing period in the
abstract system that seeks to mirror the harmonious rhythm of the cosmos. The
Haab was used as a civilian and agriculture calendar and was calibrated with the
sacred Tun and Tzolkin calendars every 52 years.
The Aztec/Toltec system placed the emphasis on the Haab, the 365 Kin synodic
cycle, and the Pleiades through the celebration of the New Fire Ceremony every
52 and 104 years to reconfirm the Sun as Huitzilopochtli’s central position in their
Cosmology. They strengthened this cosmology through the synchronization of
Venus, Pleiades, Tzolkin and Haab cycles every 104 years. The Tzolkin and Haab
synchronize every 52 years or 18,980 kin. The extra .2422 days are accounted for
MCS_December 2012
Mayan Calendar System, cc 2004 - 2012, Mexico City, Detroit, Michigan
at the end of the 52 year cycle through the observance of One Trecena of 13 kin to
make up for the 13 days lost by the Haab and the Real synodic cycle of 18,993
days. This Trecena constitutes the New Fire Ceremony and The Tzolkin continues
to spin in its infinite cycle but the Haab remains motionless after the last day of the
Nemontemi and only starts again after the passing of one Trecena. This
adjustment causes the Haab to leap one Trecena per Calendar Round against the
Tzolkin. The complete cycle is 52 years *20 or 1040. This is the complete New
Fire Cycle of 1040 years portrayed on the Aztec Sun Stone. Five of these New
Fire Cycles make up the “Great Year” of 5200. 1040 x 5 = 5200 years.
An additional synchronizing factor between the Tzolkin and Haab is the 20 day
period. In the case of the Tzolkin, there are 13, 20 day periods. In the Haab there
are 18, 20 month periods plus the five days of the Nemontemi. This means that
during one Haab the 20 day month always begins on the same day-sign and
follows the normal Tzolkin number sequence. Each successive Haab moves
forward by 5 day signs or 105 total days (365-260).
6.1 Nemontemi
The Nemontemi, or bad luck days, are treated as a parallel series of days
warranting an additional Tzolkin count. The standard Tzolkin count pegged to the
December 21, 2012, 4 Ahau date continues in its endless cycle and an additional
Tzolkin count is kept for the Nemontemi, stopping on the fifth day and resuming its
cycle 360 days later for an additional 5 days. This parallel Tzolkin count completes
one entire cycle of 260 counts in exactly 52 years (260 divided by 5 equals 52),
synchronizing with the Haab and Venus cycles. The beauty of this system is that
the Tzolkin restarts every 52 years allowing us to accurately know which dates the
parallel series bear. If the last new fire ceremony took place in 1975, that would
mean that 360 days later the counts 1 Cipactli, 2 Ehecatl, 3 Calli, 4 Cuetzpallin and
5 Coatl would take place as the parallel series dates. By March 15 to March 19 of
2009 the parallel series will be in the 34th year or Kin #s 171 – 175, which are; 2
Ozomatli to 6 Cuauhtli.

7.0 THE 52 AND 104 YEAR NEW FIRE CYCLE
The last New Fire Ceremony on record took place November 19, 1507. The
Spanish arrived just 12 years later bringing the Age to an end. Moving forward in
52 year increments we arrive at 1975 as the proper year for the New Fire
Ceremony. In November of 2008 we celebrated the 33 rd “Fuego Sagrado” in
Mexico City.
One of the most well known ceremonies in Mesoamerica is the “New Fire
Ceremony” celebrated every 52 years and with a larger ceremony every 104 years.
The New Fire Ceremony has a number of functions; the calibration of the artificial
and real periods, the celebration of the alignment of the earth, Sun, Venus,
Pleiades and the Precession of the Equinoxes.
The New Fire Ceremony was celebrated on November 14 around the time of the
conquest and today it would take place on November 19 at the latitude of
Teotihuacan; the change due to Precession of the Equinoxes. The astronomical
phenomenon that is tracked during this ceremony is the midnight zenith crossing of
the Pleiades. For the Mesoamericans, the Pleiades is one of the most significant
constilations and it has been hypothesized that the very Tzolkin originated from the
Pleiades. By tracking the midnight zenith crossing of the Pleiades we are able to
determine the exact day of the Pleiades day zenith crossing, as this takes place
exactly ½ year after the midnight zenith crossing. As the solar zenith takes place
at May 17 in Mexico City (Teotihuacan/Tenochtitlan) and May 20 at Chichen Itza,
we begin to understand why it is that the final adjustments to the New Fire
Ceremony took place at Chichen Itza. As the Pleiades zenith crossing moves
forward one day every 72 years, the solar zenith crossing is slowly approaching the
May 20 date of Chichen Itza. The May 17 zenith alignment of Mexico City was
passed sometime in the 19th century. It so happens that the May 20 Pleiades-Sun
Zenith alignment will take place near to if not on 2012. This is considered the end-
beginning of a New 26,000 year Precession of the Equinox cycle.

This is a site-specific alignment which takes place at Chichen Itza as the Sun and
Pleiades conjunct in their respective zenith crossings. This is the trigger or
“fiducary” point for the entire 26,000 year processional cycle. (see section on
Precession for more information)

G SERIES, 9 DAY CYCLE
The G-series was long unexplained and is now known to be a supplementary cycle
tracked by the Maya of nine day weeks. This nine day series acts as additional
level of complexity allowing the 52 year cycle of 18,980 days to be expanded by a
factor of 9, to make 18,980x9 = 170820 kin or 468 Haab cycle.
SUPPLIMENTAL MATERIAL
I. Zenith Crossings
Zenith tracking is one of the most important components of the MCS. The ancients
placed enormous import on the Zenith moment for ceremonial purposes as the
energy received is unique, a extra-dimensional door opening event.
MCS_December 2012
Mayan Calendar System, cc 2004 - 2012, Mexico City, Detroit, Michigan
A Zenith Crossing is conjunction of Light and Magnetic waves at a 90° angel. The
tilt of the earth can be seen as part of the magnetic field – as the light passes
through the Magnetic field at a 90° angel, a moment of transformation occurs.
II. Lunar Nodes
The Lunar nodes are where the orbital paths of the sun and moon intersect as
seen from earth. The intersection points are called nodes and it is precisely at
these points where solar and lunar eclipses occur. There is an eclipse every
173.33 days and the nodes are continually processing backward through the
zodiac, making a complete circuit every 18.51 years. This nodal cycle mirrors the
much larger cycle of the precession of the equinoxes as these are fixed
astronomical points that precede along the ecliptic. Another important facet of the
nodal period of 173.33 days is 173.33 x 3 = 520, which is exactly 260 x 2 = 520.
The Tzolkin and nodal period align every 2 Tzolkin rounds, 2:3 or 0.666.

III. Precession of the Equinoxes
The 12 Zodiacs as considered by current and past cultures is the backdrop of
the Precession of the Equinoxes. The entire zodiac is covered by the slowly
shifting Equinoxes in a grand period of approximately 26,000 solar years. As
described by De Santillana in “Hamlet’s Mill”; “… the equinoctial ‘points’ – and
therefore, the solstitial ones, - do not remain forever where they should in order
to make celestial goings-on easier to understand, namely, at the same spot with
respect to the sphere of the fixed stars. Instead, they stubbornly move along
the ecliptic in the opposite directions to the yearly course of the sun, that is,
MCS_December 2012
Mayan Calendar System, cc 2004 - 2012, Mexico City, Detroit, Michigan
against the ‘right’ sequence of the zodiacal sings… This phenomena is called
the Precession of the Equinoxes, and it was conceived as causing the rise and
the cataclysmic fall of ages of the world. Its cause is a bad habit of the axis of
our globe, which turns around in the manner of a spinning top, its tip being in
the center of our small earth-ball, when our earth axis, prolonged to the celestial
North Pole, describes a circle around the North Pole of the ecliptic, the true
‘center’ of the planetary system, the radius of this circle being of the same
magnitude as the obliquity with respect ot eh equator: 23.5°. The time which
this prolonged axis needs to circumscribe the ecliptical North Pole is roughly
26,000 years, during which period it points to one star after another: around
3000 B.C. the Pole star was alpha Craconis; at the time of the Greeks it was
beta Ursea Minoris; for the time being it is alpha Ursea Minoris; in A.D. 14,000 it
will be Vega. The equinoxes, the points of intersection of ecliptic and equator,
swinging from the spinning axis of the earth, move along with same speed of
26,000 years along the ecliptic. (de Santillana and von Dechend 1969, pp.58-
59)
MCS_December 2012
Mayan Calendar System, cc 2004 - 2012, Mexico City, Detroit, Michigan
Our modern calendar and Astronomy does not take into consideration the
precession of the equinoxes. This can be seen by the fact that the spring equinox
is still placed at the cusp between Aries and Pisces 2000 years after that alignment
took place and should now be at the cusp between Pisces and Aquarius around
February 21. The reason that it does not reflect the heavenly movement of the
cosmos is because our system has fixed solstice and equinox meridians always
taking place in late March, June, September and December. Meanwhile, the
precession slowly inches backward at 1 degree every 72 years. The end result; the
spring equinox as we now measure it no longer points at the region of space that it
should to align with the greater movement of the precessional cycle.
(source: Galactic Alignment, pg. 138-140)
MCS_December 2012
Mayan Calendar System, cc 2004 - 2012, Mexico City, Detroit, Michigan
The MCS places the precession at the very heart of their calendar and culture as
the 26,000 Tun cycle divided into 5 sub-cycles or “ages” of 5200 Tun each. The
Tzolkin of 260 is a fractal of the 26,000 Tun precession. If we look at the Mayan
Sun Stone, we notice the day 13 Acatl at the very top of the calendar. This is the
26 fractal again (13 Acatl is 13 + 13 = 26) in the following progression; 26; 260;
26,000. When we consciously observe the 260 day Tzolkin we are connected to
the 26,000 year precessional cycle. In like fashion when we observe the 13 week
cycle we are connecting to the 13 lunar months each solar year.
The Mayan chose the Pleiades as the end-start point marker of the precession
cycle. The transformation point of the precession cycle is the alignment between
the Zenith Sun with the Zenith Pleiades on earth. If we look at the day May 20,
2012, when this alignment takes place, it happens towards the end of Taurus in our
current cycle. Our modern Astronomy does not align with precession as the
solstice and equinox are fixed in the Astronomy and our system does not account
for the slow slippage of precession. Using 0 AD as the fixed turning point from the
age of Aries to Pisces we see that we have progressed 28 degrees by dividing
2010/72 (precession moves at a rate of 1 degree every 72 years). This means that
the correct date of the Spring Equinox is almost one entire sign behind our current
cycle and should be taking place around Feb. 23. The real problem with this
disharmony is that our current Astronomy DOES NOT align with the heavens. That
is the portion of the sky known by the ancients as Aries does not line up with our
Aries birth signs. This creates an incredible disharmony between the two systems.
Both systems are valid in themselves, one aligns us to the stars the other to our
star the Sun. The disharmony is the result of not observing both cycles. The
observation of the two cycles as one Whole System results naturally in a unified
cosmology.
Traditionally, the cycle is set to begin and end with Aries, so it was always a
mystery why in this time of transformation we are supposedly entering the Age of
Aquarius and not the Age of Aries. This mystery is resolved by first aligning our
MCS_December 2012
Mayan Calendar System, cc 2004 - 2012, Mexico City, Detroit, Michigan
current cycle with precession by moving each sign back one month. As a result,
Pisces become Aquarius, Aries becomes Pisces, Taurus becomes Aries, etc.
Now, back to the Mayan Pleiades zenith alignment taking place on May 17, which
is now in Aries instead of Taurus. If we also consider the non-exactitude of the
division lines between the zodiac signs as well as consider a 13 zodiac system in
place of our 12 zodiac system, it is not a stretch to see that the actual beginning of
the Aries cycle will take place on May 17, 2012. This can be seen reflected in the
Aztec Sun Stone where four very clear Aries Symbols are seen at the 4 cardinal
directions. To summarize, according to the Mayan system, the Precessional cycle
is tracked by the Pleiades every year as part of the New Fire ceremony. Every
26,000 Tun it happens that the Pleiades and the Sun line up in a Zenith
configuration (at a different place on earth each macro cycle) and it is this precise
alignment that marks the beginning of a new 26,000 tun cycle. In addition, the
MCS would continually align with the precession through the New Fire ceremony
and always begin with the zodiac sign of Aries. In the Mayan cosmology we are
not moving from the age of Pisces into the age of Aquarius, we are moving
from the Age of Taurus into the Age of Aries.
IV. Solar Flares
Note: “An increase of as little as 0.5 percent in the Sun’s energy output would be
enough to fry the satellite system on which global telecommunications, military
security, and banking depend… ” (Lawerence, pg. 9)
The primary Solar Flare cycle is 22.3 years, two solar flare maximum cycles of
11.15 years each. The solar flare pulse is 86.666 days, which is exactly 1/3 of the
Tzolkin count. There are 47 solar pulses in one 11.15 year cycle and 94 pulses in
a 22.3 year cycle.

V. The 256 Year Katun Wheel
The MCS relies on a mechanism called the Katun Wheel, which consists of 13
periods of 20 Tuns (20 tuns is known as a Katun). The Katun Wheel is the
primary mechanism the Maya’s used for divination purposes.
This Mechanism creates a cycle of 260 Tun (256 years), in which the Tzolkin and
Tun calendars where continuously correlated. The two calendars synchronize
every 13 Tun / 18 Tzolkin due to the greatest common denominator of 20 between
the two. (360/20 = 13 and 260/20 = 18). The Katun Wheel moves through 20 of
these 13 Tun synchronizations, effectively mirroring the very Tzolkin structure, but
instead of days, each of the 260 possibilities is a Tun. This creates a holographic
template by which the long cycle of 256 years can be seen through the lens of the
260 day Tzolkin template.
The Tzolkin day in which the Tun and Tzolkin synchronize is always the 20 th day or
.00 day, Ahau. For example, if we start at the day 1 Ahau (the primary
synchronization day of Venus), every subsequent TUN-shift will occur on an Ahau
date for the following reason; 360-260 equals 100 divided by 20 equals exactly 5.
Thus, the Ahau dates move forward by 100 days every Tun completion creating
the following 13 Tun pattern of Ahau dates (Refer to Tzolkin Chart):
1 Ahau – 10 Ahau – 6 Ahau – 2 Ahau – 11 Ahau – 7 Ahau – 3 Ahau – 12 Ahau – 8
Ahau – 4 Ahau – 13 Ahau – 9 Ahau – 5 Ahau.
Now, if we follow this same cycle through 20 Tun or 1 Katun, we find the following
pattern of Ahau dates:
1 Ahau (Ruling Katun), 10 Ahau, 6 Ahau , 2 Ahau, 11 Ahau, 7 Ahau , 3 Ahau, 12
Ahau, 8 Ahau, 4 Ahau, 13 Ahau, 9 Ahau, 5 Ahau, 1 Ahau, 10 Ahau, 6 Ahau, 2
Ahau, 11 Ahau, 7 Ahau, 3 Ahau – 12 Ahau (Ruling Katun), 8 Ahau, 4 Ahau, 13

Ahau, 9 Ahau, 5 Ahau, 1 Ahau, 10 Ahau, 6 Ahau, 2 Ahau, 11 Ahau, 7 Ahau, 3
Ahau, 12 Ahau, 8 Ahau, 4 Ahau, 13 Ahau, 9 Ahau, 5 Ahau, 1 Ahau – 10 Ahau
(Ruling Katun), 6 Ahau, 2 Ahau, 11 Ahau, 7 Ahau, 3 Ahau, 12 Ahau, 8 Ahau, 4
Ahau, 13 Ahau, 9 Ahau, 5 Ahau, 1 Ahau, 10 Ahau, 6 Ahau, 2 Ahau, 11 Ahau, 7
Ahau, 3 Ahau, 12 Ahau – 8 Ahau (Ruling Katun) ….
If we continue this same Ahau sequence through 13 Katun’s we will arrive at the
Katun Wheel sequence making up the 260 tun (256 year) cycle:
1 Ahau, 12 Ahau, 10 Ahau, 8 Ahau, 6 Ahau, 4 Ahau, 2 Ahau, 13 Ahau, 11 Ahau,
9 Ahau, 7 Ahau, 5 Ahau, 3 Ahau.
To summarize, we have 2 embedded cycles; a yearly Tun cycle that is continually
running through 13 Ahau combinations. This on-going Tun Wheel correlates with
the Katun Wheel by determining the Katun Ahua date every 20 Tun shifts, and
realizing all of the 13 possible combinations for the Katun’s, effectively mirroring
the 260 position Tzolkin template.
Note: The Katun landed on is the ruler of the previous 20 Tun, the following year
now falls under the rulership of the Katun determined by the Tun date of the final of
20 Tuns. So, in the above example, 1 Ahau is the ruler of its own Tun and the
previous 19 Tuns.

VII. The Aztec Sunstone
The Aztec Sun Stone, or what the Mexicas would call “The Eagle’s Bowl”, is a
cosmogram and contains the unified symbolism and meaning of the ancient
mind. This cosmogram demonstrates the inter-dimensional relationships that
make up our reality on earth and can be seen as a Philosophers Stone so often
referred to in alchemical literature.
As above, So below; this image contains keys to understand the dynamics of
our inner and outer worlds, of Astronomy and the many layers of meaning from MCS_December 2012
Mayan Calendar System, cc 2004 - 2012, Mexico City, Detroit, Michigan
the mundane to the super-novel. Once this alchemical tool is understood at
even a basic level, a new world emerges and another set of meaning results,
more connections are made and the process is repeated again and again.
An Interpretation of the Information Encoded in the Stone
Beginning at the center of the cosmogram, we see a face with a half-open
mouth, grimacing from pain or ecstasy. The face is the Sun-god, Tonatiuh
Huitzilopochti, and the Earth-god, Tlaltecuhtli Tonacatecuhtli, and also
represents the face of the completed androgynous human being. In the face
are nose rings, ear rings, extended and pierced tongue, long hair and strange
goggles. These ornaments reflect the five senses and represent the mastery of
these senses. The sixth sense is found at the center of the headband as an
egg-shaped bowl in the position of the third-eye. The human being stands at
the very center of the cosmos as a Divine link between the micro and macro-
cosmoses. With Quantum Mechanics below us and Newtonian Physics above
us, we are the bridge between the seen and the unseen.
Our importance in the Divine order of things is depicted in the Sun Stone as a
face. The face placed at the center of the circle represents the position of the
heart-center, the seat of emotions. The conquering and control of our emotions
is essential in the alchemical science and shows up here as the placement of
the human-god-face in the middle of the circle, just as the 17th century
alchemical amalgam named the “Azoth of the Philosphers”. (source:
http://www.alchemylab.com/azoth.htm)
To summarize, the human face at the center represents the completed human
being as a representative of the Sun god Tonahtiuh-Huitzilopochtli (Aten) on
earth and a receiving-transmuting-transmitting link between the macro and
micro Cosmoses. The emphasis on the six senses in the face points to the
necessity of harnessing the five senses to access the sixth sense, which is
shown as an egg-like receptor at the center of the forehead. The placement of
MCS_December 2012
Mayan Calendar System, cc 2004 - 2012, Mexico City, Detroit, Michigan
the face in the center of the Cosmogram points to the importance of
humanizing our emotions and establishing contact with them in order to fulfill
the hearts potential. The extended tongue is communication through the
spoken and written word.
There are two circles on either side of the third-eye. This shows the human and
ultimately the Sun’s allegiance to Ome Teotl or Hunab K’u, the two-sided God
at the center of the Galaxy, known as “The One-giver of Measure and
Movement” or “The One-giver of Music and Dance”. As our modern day
science knows, a black hole or a mini-quasar resides at the center of our galaxy
consisting of approximately 2.5 millions times the mass of our own Sun. The
Egyptians were also cognizant of this immense force at the center of our
Galaxy and called it Amen, the hidden God.
note: the infamous Egyptian civil war between the priests of Amen (the
Galactic Center) and the priests of Aten (the Solar Disc) is connected with the
alignment between these forces that is to take place on Dec. 21, 2012 at the
Winter Solstice as the Galactic Center Sun (Amen) aligns with our own Sun
(Aten) providing a unique opportunity of convergence to all creators alive at
this moment.
In the second order circle out from the center are contained 9 symbols, 8 of
which are Tzolkin day-signs and the 9th is an enigmatic symbol of what is
sometimes called a robotic rabbit and could symbolize the continued
movement of the cycles and of life. The first five day signs inscribed in the X-
formation stand for the five (5) elements and the five (5) ages and all are
combined with the number four (4) as the number of “measure” or “music”.
The first day-sign, 4 Ehecatl (wind) stands for the Air element and the age
destroyed by wind. The second is 4 Quiahuitl (Electricity or Storm) and stands
for the element of Fire and points to an age destroyed by fire. The fourth sign is
4 Ocelotl (Jaguar) and stands for the Earth element and the age in which man
was eaten by jaguars signifying the change in the earth’s axis causing the
earth to “swallow humanity”. The fourth sign is 4 Atl, Water, and stands for the MCS_December 2012
Mayan Calendar System, cc 2004 - 2012, Mexico City, Detroit, Michigan
element Water and the age destroyed by the great flood, which our history
remembers well. The final sign in the X-formation is 4 Ollin, Movement,
Earthquake, and stands for the fifth element, Movement and points to our
current age, which will be destroyed by earthquakes and fire and usher in the
6th Age of Enlightenment, the age of the completed and fully Conscious
human.
The Three Mesoamerican Cosmologies; North Star, Pleiades and
the Galactic Center
Author, John Major Jenkins, has shown in detail the progression of
Mesoamerican Cosmology as it went from a Cosmic Center of the North Star as
the Big Dipper to the Pleiades in the Zenith and finally to the Galactic Center
(reference: Mayan Cosmogenesis 2012). Instead of seeing these as three
different or competing Cosmologies, we see that the three “centers” are all
represented harmoniously in the Aztec Sun Stone.
At the very top of the Sun Stone is the Tzolkin daysign: 13 Acatl (13
Corn/Caña). Out of 13 Acatl come two fang-like arrows pointing down and an
inverted Aries symbol supporting 13 Acatl with its point. There are also 28 bars
in this area signifying the 28 day lunar cycle. The entire upper section of the
Sun Stone signifies the Olmec period in which the North Star, as the Big Dipper
or Ursa Major, was viewed and exalted as the Cosmic Center and the origin
place of all things. The 13 Acatl is numerically 13 + 13 = 26, a fractal of the
260 day Tzolkin and the 26,000 Tun Precession cycle. This points to an early
reception and transmission of the 260 day calendar as well as the precession
cycle by the Olmecs, thus justifying their title as the Mother Civilization of
Mesoamerica. Later Mayan myth details the realization of this “false” center as
the fall of the deity 7 Macaw (Big Dipper), shot down with a blow gun by the
Hero-Twins Hun Hunapu (One Lord) and Xbalenque (Jaguar Prince).
MCS_December 2012

13 Acatl is a year in the 52 year cycle, most likely the year it was made in
either 1427 or 1479, both being the year of 13 Acatl. Most significantly the
famous Virgen of Guadalupe, know by the Aztecs as Tonantzin, appeared to
Juan Diego in Tepeyacaca (just North of Mexico City) on December 12, 1531,
the Year of 13 Acatl, day 4 Tecpatl in the Trecena of the Eagle. The appearance
of Tonantzin and the subsequent apparition of her magic image calmed the
angry indigenous Mexica to accept the foreign faith as a synthesis created by
their Divine Mother. To this day, the Mexican people worship her image above
every other and pay homage to her as the Goddess of Mexico City. In
Revelations 12 of the Christian Bible a clear and precise description of her
image can be found.

The Center region of the Sun Stone made up of the band of the 20 day signs
moving in a counter clockwise direction and the entire center-piece including
the face. This section represents the true Galactic Center located in Ophiucus
(Mayan Astronomy) where a black hole or a mini-quasar resides. The Maya
called this place Hunab K’U and was the ONE TRUE GOD, The “One Giver of
Measure and Movement”. This section of the Sun Stone is associated with the
Mayans and their perfection of the system taught to them by the earlier
Olmecs. Notice also a two headed turtle, a butterfly and a large X. All three
symbols are associated with transformation, Mayan alchemy and the X is the
symbol of the Egyptian God of the Underworld, Osiris, or Mictlantecuhtli to the
Aztecs. The two Eagle claws grasping hearts represent the constellation
Ophiecus/Scorpio (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ophiuchus), which is also often
referred to as the Eagle, as the location of the Galactic Center and at the same
time points to a dual or polar nature of our origin place. It is also the Center of
the Sun Stone that points to the completion of the fifth Age and the beginning
of the 6th Age, set to take place by our time reckoning on December 21, 2012.
The Bottom portion of the Sun Stone consists of two faces emerging from vision
serpents and when merged a third larger face can be seen emerging from the
mouth of a dragon. Each of the vision serpents carries 7 circles or stars on its MCS_December 2012
Mayan Calendar System, cc 2004 - 2012, Mexico City, Detroit, Michigan
snout representing the Pleiades as their origin point. This is the Toltec
Cosmology of the New Fire Ceremony in which the Pleiades Zenith midnight
and Zenith Noon events are seen as the focal point, the Pleiades. Another
interpretation of the two vision serpents - the serpent on the left is Tezcatlipoca
and he is associated with the 7 stars of the Big Dipper, Ursa Major, and the
serpent on the right is Quetzalcoatl and he is associated with the 7 stars of the
Pleiades. Notice that a tecpatl knife is protruding from the mouths of both
Tezcatlipoca and Quetzalcoatl and the knives are touching. This is a symbol of
true communication between the two poles; light and dark, day and night, male
and female, positive and negative, up and down, heaven and earth, etc. etc.
Applying the Sun Stone to our internal and spiritual side, this would represent
the eternal contact and communication of the poles within.
From the Toltecs came the 52 year correlation of the Tzolkin and the fractal of the 5200
Tun Great Year, later refined in Chichen Itza where the Maya and Toltecs unified the
Cosmologies. In this section, an Aries symbol is seen pointing directly to the place where
the tongues of the two faces, as representatives of Tezcatlipoca and Quetzalcoatl, touch.
This points to the Zenith Pleiades - Sun conjunction that takes place on May 20, 2012 at
the location of Chichen Itza. When taking into consideration the adjustment of the current
zodiac to align with the real movement of precession and the re-insertion of the 13th
constellation, then the constellation Taurus will shift into Aries on May 20 as marked by the
Zenith - Pleiades - Sun alignment. This can be seen as the true chronocrator, or marker of
time of the the end/starting point of the 26,000 year precession cycle at the beginning of
the first House, Aries.
