2017 TRENDS & STATISTICS

It was a very successful recruitment year for the Class of 2017, with 93 percent having accepted job offers within three months of graduation. Our 92 percent international class graduated fully prepared to become the global business leaders of the future. They joined our network of more than 57,000 talented alumni, located in 135 countries across the world, and armed with a global mindset and the latest business knowledge, more than 50 percent of the class secured positions outside of their home country.

While 47 percent of graduates will continue their journey in Europe, we saw an increase in the number of students who accepted employment in Asia (23 percent) and North America (11 percent). As with past years, the majority of our students made a career transformation, with 64 percent changing sector, 68 percent changing function and 55 percent changing their location. Almost 65 percent of the class changed two of the three elements and an impressive 34 percent made the “triple jump” and changed all three.

The Economist ranked the HEC Paris MBA as the top program in Europe, and it was ranked as one of the top 10 programs in the world by Bloomberg Businessweek. In addition, the program ranked third in the world in the Global QS rankings. We are proud to remain in the top European MBAs as ranked by Forbes, Financial Times and Poets & Quants.

Our Career Center ensures that students’ career goals align with the needs of the global job market and we encourage our students to explore a variety of industries and functions. This diversity is reflected in the placement data with 47 percent of students securing roles in a

range of industries including Energy/Utilities, Life Sciences, Luxury, Consumer Goods and Automotive. The most popular sector within Industry was Technology, coming in at 19 percent, an increase of 2 percentage points over last year. In addition, 21 percent of the class secured positions in the Finance sector and 18 percent in Consulting.

Our revamped Career Center includes Career & Corporate Development Managers, a new careers-focused curriculum and a dedicated Employer Engagement team that sources new opportunities with international corporate partners.

The Careers Team would like to take this opportunity to thank our loyal alumni and recruiters, who continue to show confidence in our talent. We are proud of our achievements and we look forward to continuing to prepare future generations of global leaders to solve the business problems of tomorrow.

“In the HEC Paris MBA, I was exposed to a wide range of industries and functions during classes and networking events, which greatly changed my post-MBA plans. After an internship in consulting, I took a full-time job in the technology sector. Having come from a career in the steel and oil industries, both were new to me. I switched industry, function and geography, which would have been very difficult without the doors opened by the MBA.”
