mcgill.ca/desautels/mba MBA INTERNSHIP PROGRAM ABOUT MBA INTERNSHIPS The Desautels Faculty of Management offers MBA students the opportunity to gain valuable industry experience and hands-on practice while developing a wide professional network through a comprehensive internship program. DURATION The internship must last 10-12 weeks, working full-time, for a minimum of 400 hours. If completed on a part-time basis, the internship must be no less than 20 hours per week for a minimum of 400 hours. WHEN MBA internships are typically undertaken during the summer after the first year of the MBA program. Internships can also be completed during the winter or fall semesters. Students must be returning to their studies after their internship, and cannot complete it during their last semester. CREDITS Students receive 6 credits upon successful completion of an internship, which includes submission of journals, a mini-case write-up and a final presentation. COMPENSATION MBA interns are typically compensated at market rates. Compensation is at the discretion of the employer and may be negotiated to accommodate both parties’ expectations. The average compensation for internships as well the average base and total compensation ranges by functional area for full-time employment after graduation are indicated in the Employment Data fact sheet. Many employers in competitive sectors prorate annual full-time salaries for internships.
