difference how you dress for

an interview? In many cases, it

does. If you’re in doubt about

how to dress for an interview,

it’s best to err on the side of

conservatism. It is much

better to be overdressed than

underdressed.

It’s important to dress professionally for a job interview, regardless of

the work environment.

When the workplace or job is less formal, the dress code may be as

well. If you’re not sure what to wear, it’s fine. Check with the person

scheduling the interview. However, it’s still important not to dress like a

slob.

Before going

on an interview,

make sure you have

appropriate interview

attire and everything fits

correctly. Get your clothes

ready the night before,

so you don’t have to spend

time getting them ready on

the day of the interview. If your clothes are dry clean only. Take them

to the cleaners after an interview, so they are ready for the next time.

Polish your shoes bring a breathe mint and use it before you enter the

building. What not to bring to the interview: Gum, Cell phone, Ipod,

coffee or soda, If you have lots of piercings, leave some of them at

home. One pair of earrings only, is a good rule. Cover tattoos.

Business Attire for Women

Solid colors, conservative suit with

coordinated blouse, moderate shoes,

flesh-toned pantyhose, and limited

jewelry.

Neat, professional hairstyle,

manicured nails, light make-up, and

little or no perfume.

Portfolio or briefcase

Business Casual Attire

Khaki, corduroy, twill or cotton pants

or skirts, neatly pressed.

Sweaters, twinsets, cardigans,

polo/knit shirts or knit shirts with a

collar.

Solid colors work better than bright

colors.

The first impression you make on a potential employer is the most

important one. The first judgment an interviewer makes is going to be

based on how you look and what you are wearing. That’s why it’s

always important to dress appropriately for a job interview.
