McBee Scholarship Daniel Arpaia Junior 2011 Graphic design interests me because I feel that it allows you as a designer/artist to utilize all forms of media, graphics, and art more than any other art form. Design encompasses drawing, painting, photography, organizing, and conceptualizing, but where graphic design stands out the most is its utiliziation and ability to mix those medias on the computer. The limitations of other art forms is restricted to physical canvases, paper or projection, but graphic design utilizes everything from print to motion/animation to web design; conceptualiztions to physicalities. Graphic design also has a stronger influence on society today, giving it the ability to be and persuade anything to anyone. Its integration into society has become so prominant that it is in our face everyday without realizing it. Every advertisement, logo, sign, poster, and even technology we interact with has been created from a designers mind and will continue to lead the way for infliuence in society. I believe that graphic design is the most influential and universal media with endless possibilites, and I cant wait to see where it takes me.

Junior 2011

Graphic design interests me because I feel that it allows you as a designer/artist to utilize all forms of media, graphics, and art more than any other art form. Design

encompasses drawing, painting, photography, organizing, and conceptualizing, but where graphic design stands out the most is its utiliziation and ability to mix those medias on the computer. The limitations of other art forms is restricted to physical

canvases, paper or projection, but graphic design utilizes everything from print to motion/animation to web design; conceptualiztions to physicalities. Graphic

design also has a stronger influence on society today, giving it the ability to be and persuade anything to anyone. Its integration into society has become so prominant that it is in our face everyday without realizing it. Every advertisement, logo, sign,

poster, and even technology we interact with has been created from a designers mind and will continue to lead the way for infliuence in society. I believe that

graphic design is the most influential and universal media with endless possibilites, and I cant wait to see where it takes me.

Critical Mass Postcards - LustImage Methodology Fall 2010http://darpaia22.blogspot.com/2011/03/critical-mass-lust.html

These are 5 postcards of the deadly sin, lust, made up from a compilation of images from my classmates and myself. I chose to represent lust through knowledge, materialism, beauty, power, and sex, 5 things which are at the core of human desire.

TASA Design ConferenceAdvanced Typography Spring 2011http://darpaia22.blogspot.com/2011/09/tasa-design-conference.html

This 2011 TASA Design Conference book was designed with simplicity and clarity as the leading concept while incorporating a different idea for the structure of the book. I chose to create an inner page tab system (represented by the grayed rectangle) which would provide pictures of lecturers, section titles, and map keypoints, while remaining simple with color schemes, illustrations, and the font style frutiger.

Weather ReportAdvanced Typography Spring 2011http://darpaia22.blogspot.com/2011/03/weather-report.html

The weather report video was designed to have a simple color scheme and layout to emphasize the information hierarchy being provided in the animation. I chose to utilize location, time and alphabet from the L.A.T.C.H. system through smooth and interesting movements to keep the viewer engaged.
