• Starting in 2019, IMGs including Fellows will be required to pass the MCCQE

Part I for entry into residency.

• All the MRAs support the change and will implement procedural modifications

to reflect the replacement of the MCCEE by the MCCQE Part I.

• Scheduling for the 2019 MCCQE Part I will open in

2018.

Registration for the MCCQE Part I will be continuous

(i.e., candidates could schedule for the exam 6 to 12

months in advance).

Candidates will be able to schedule their exam

appointment with Prometric after their application has

been reviewed and approved by the MCC.

MCCQE Policy 16

• POLICY ON THE NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS ALLOWED ON THE

MCCQE PARTS I AND II

• Starting in 2018, candidates may register and take the MCCQE

Part I and Part II a maximum of 4 times each.

• After the 3rd attempt of either examination, a candidate must

wait a minimum of one (1) year to take the examination a fourth

(4th) and final time.

• A 5th attempt may be granted by Central Examination

Committee (CEC) under exceptional circumstances.

• Rationale:

• Content exposure to candidates who take the examination multiple times

• Repeated exposure to examination content increases the risk for

reproduction and sharing of examination content with others

• Validity of a passing score obtained by candidates after taking the

examination multiple times

• Alignment of MCC policy with other professional organizations across North

America that provide high-stakes examinations

• All available data show that passing the examination after a fourth attempt

is extremely unlikely
