New meet this summer! We will be traveling to Lexingtonn, KY for
the Kentucky Aquatics Derby Invitational, hosted at the University
of Kentucky pool. The coaching staff is excited for this meet in May,
allowing our swimmers a chance to swim in a different pool against other
swimmers. Coach Kendall and Coach Katie are even more excited as well
since they use to live in Lexington! Mark your calendars for this meet.
GA Tech Meet - Registration deadline for the GA Tech meet
in Atlanta is April 8! Many have already signed up, but the
coaches would love to have more McC/GPS participation.
Our swimmers have loved this meet, because it is at the site
of the 1996 Olympics, and the meet will use chase starts. If
you don’t want to commit to the entire weekend, sign up for
one day. The afternoon session (12&unders) allows for an easy
drive in the morning.

NCSA JR. NATIONALSMarch 15-19, 9 members of our Senior Group traveled to Orlando, Florida for NCSA Jr. Nationals. This was the largest
group we have ever had travel to a meet of this level, including having an “A” AND “B” senior boys relay qualify! The meet
was a huge success for MCC/GPS as four (4) team records were broken, two (2) relays qualified and countless best times.
Even with the meet being run short course yards for prelims and long course meets for times, this was a great meet for
McC/GPS swimmers, to compete against other amazing caliber athletes.
Congratulations to our National Team members: WILL BOOTLE, GABRIEL JOHNSON, SUSANNA LAROCHELLE,
PIERCE LIVELY, JAKE MARCUM, LUKE MASSEY, JONPAT RANSOM, MAX RANSOM and WILLIAM VIA.
With over 300 swimmers in any given event, we had two swimmers swim at finals with eight (8) swims! SUSANNA
LAROCHELLE placed 24th in the 200m Backstroke, 20th in the 50 Breaststroke, 32nd in the 400 IM, 16th in the 100
Backstroke, 30th in the 100 Fly, 16th in the 50 Fly and 15th in the 200 IM. JAKE MARCUM placed 25th in the 200m
Backstroke, with a 2:05.05, which was the 7th fastest time of the meet! Jake’s time qualified him for Summer Jr Nationals in
Minneapolis, as well as currently ranks him 2nd in the country for 15yr old boys.
Before these swimmers left for the meet, the coaches gave out all their National Team apparel in a mini ceremony, complete
with bags, competition suits, caps to name a few. To make it more special, the Blue Group was present to see. and give cheers
and “good lucks” for the meet.
Because our older swimmers are role models for the younger, each National Team member told the Blue Group something
they have done to get them to where they are in their swimming. Faith, hard work, attention to detail, and determination
were just some of the few phrases that were mentioned. We are so proud of the hard work and accomplishments from this
group and can’t wait to see what the future holds!
