The Client
Established over 60 years ago, the Essex-basedprincipal contractor specialises in deliveringhigh-quality internal and externalrefurbishment and responsive repairs. Thecompany, which employs over 400 staff iscurrently involved in over 20 frameworks andpartnering arrangements with local authoritiesand independent housing associations tocomplete home refurbishments.
The requirement
Breyer needed a reliable and establishedoperator to provide waste managementservices to facilitate its refurbishment ofhousing stock managed by Clarion Housing inBromley, South East London. Replacements ofkitchens, bathrooms and some externalelements of tenanted properties generateconsiderable quantities of mixed constructionwastes that need to be collected on-site andprocessed in a sustainable manner. Timelinessof skip collections/replacements and recyclingrates are key factors.
Our solution
With space unavailable in residential locationsto pre-sort wastes into different materialstreams on-site McGrath deliver 12-yard and14-yard skips to allow mixed constructionwastes can be collected. Separate wheelie binsare provided for plasterboard waste.
We provide a responsive service forcollections/replacement of skips - typicallynext-day or sometime same-day following arequest by Breyer's site team. Digitalconsignment notes are emailed to the clientupon receipt of the consignment at ourMaterials Recycling Facility (MRF) in Barking.
Comprehensive post-segregation systems sortthe consignments into individual materialstreams at our MRF. Our bespoke integratedfacility combines mechanical, manual andmagnetic techniques to generate discretestocks of concrete/hardcore, timber, plastics, metals, glass etcwhich are either recycled on-site or preparedfor onward transportation to specialistsuppliers for re-processing into new materialfeedstock.
Detailed online monthly reports provideBreyer with an inventory of transactions,tonnages of wastes collected, recycling ratesand an overall carbon footprint for the trans-portation and recycling of the materials.
