Sessions are sched- uled on Thursday, February 2, and Au- gust 3, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fly- ers will be distribut- ed. No class- room or road testing is in- volved. The fee is $16 a person. Grandma, Pop Pop, Mom and Dad were overjoyed with the gifts from the heart. Youth, too, enjoyed a valuable lesson about love and showing appreciation. PUBLIC HOUSING AUTHORITY DIRECTORS ASSOCIATION 2017 SCHOLARSHIP

In order to encourage academic excel-lence and community responsibility among high school students, PHADA has implemented a scholarship pro-gram for graduating seniors who are preparing to enter college. PHADA will award three (3) scholarships to deserving youth currently residing in a PHADA member agency. Stephen J. Bollinger Memorial Scholarship (One scholarship avail-able: $7,000.00)

Steve Bollinger (April 11, 1948-June 18, 1984) was a taskmaster to himself, a human dynamo to those who knew him. PHADA created this scholarship to memorialize Stephen J. Bollinger. Note: This scholarship will be formal-ly presented at PHADA’s Annual Convention and Exhibition May 24, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The win-ner will receive a trip for him/herself and one parent /guardian to attend the convention. Freedom & Civil Rights Scholar-

ship (One scholarship available: $5000.00)*Additional Essay Required

In 2005, PHADA”S Board of Trustees met in Montgomery, Al. Inspired by his-torical sites they chose to give personal donations for the inception of a PHADA scholarship to honor the work of Rosa Parks and the achievements of the civil rights movement. Note: To be considered for the Freedom &Civil Rights Scholar-ship include a personal essay (350-500 words) demonstrating your efforts and achievements in furthering the values of the civil rights movement. Explain why the cause is still relevant in communities today and how they relate to your educa-tional goals.
