Dear Residents and Friendsment agencies. We can look forward to Neighbourhood Renewal Programme at blocks 130 to 146 along Teck Whye Avenue, as well as the proposed redevelopment of the Choa Chu Kang Bus Interchange. We will also continue to create more green areas for our residents.

You can also expect a new Multi-storey Car Park near Teck Whye market that will provide added con-venience when visiting the area in the near future. For those who like cycling, you can look forward to the proposed cycling path by LTA that will stretch 12.5km across our town, making cycling a more enjoyable and safer mode of transport for both riders and pedestrians.

While the physical landscape changes, one value has endured – the inimitable kampung spirit that has long been the hallmark of Chua Chu Kang. It is evident in the way our residents – young and old, regardless of race or religion – come together to celebrate and to help one another. Programmes such as our Care & Share Initiative (CSI) have benefitted many needy families es-pecially during the recent recession. It is this community spirit that makes Chua Chu Kang special.

Chua Chu Kang has gone through significant renewal and development in the last five years.

In terms of greenery, the newly opened Choa Chu Kang Park Extension provides additional green recre-ational space and offers a 3-Generation Community Garden for residents of all ages to come together to strengthen their community bond. Our nearby Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve has recently added a new exten-sion, with new trails for visitors to explore and enjoy. Our town is also part of the Tengah Nature Way, Singapore’s longest nature way of 13km, bringing biodiversity closer to our neighbourhood.

Our older flats have been refreshed and old lifts replaced. In addition, the Town Council has improved the living environment with new playgrounds, fitness corners and covered linkways. Chua Chu Kang Town is now mostly barrier free, providing seamless access for our residents with special mobility needs.

Multi-generation recreation facilities at Block 6 and 7 Teck Whye Avenue have recently been completed. Promoting family bonding is a key objective behind the Town Council’s special project, the 3GHub. It will feature a playground for the little ones and fitness corners for senior citizens. This way, the whole family can spend time together and exercise at the same time.

过去五年里，蔡厝港已经过显著的更新与发展。在绿化方面，新开的蔡厝港公园扩建设施提供了更

多绿色休闲空间，以及一个“三代同堂”的社区花园，使所有年龄段的居民都可以欢聚在此，增进邻里关系。在附近的双溪布洛湿地保护区最近也进行了新的扩建，增设了新的步行道，供访客探索和享受。蔡厝港也是总长13公里, 新加坡最长自然连接道，登加自然连接道的一部分。这令我们的社区更加亲近丰富多样的生物。

我们已经翻新了较老旧的组屋，也更换了电梯。此外，市镇理事会还通过增设新的游乐场、健身角落和有盖走廊以改善居民们的生活环境。现在的蔡厝港大部分拥有无障碍通道，为具有特殊出行需求的居民提供便利。

Dalam jangka masa lima tahun kebelakang ini, Chua Chu Kang telah diberikan transformasi pembaharuan dan pembangunan .

Dari segi penghijauan, kesinambungan Taman Chua Chu Kang yang baru dibuka memberikan ruang rekreasi hijau serta menawarkan Taman Masyarakat 3-Generasi untuk penduduk dari semua peringkat umur untuk bersama-sama mengeratkan hubungan di dalam masyrakat kita.

Rizab Tanah Lembab Sungei Buloh yang berdeka-tan telah di perbaharui dengan tambahan sambungan laluan baru-baru ini, untuk pelawat meneroka dan menikmati-nya. Bandar kita juga merupakan sebahagian daripada Tengah Nature Way, ia-itu laluan alam semula jadi Singapura yang terpanjang, 13km, yang mendekat-kan biodiversiti dengan kawasan kejiranan kita.

Flat-flat lama kami telah diperbaharui dan semua lif lama telah diganti. Selain daripada itu, Majlis Perbanda-ran telah meningkatkan persekitaran kediaman dengan taman-taman permainan, sudut kecergasan dan laluan sambungan berbumbung. Kebanyakan kawasan dalam Bandar Chua Chu Kang kini tidak ada penghalang. Ini membolehkan penduduk kita yang mempunyai masalah pegerakkan, bergerak dengan mudah.

Fasilitas rekreasi berbilang generasi di Blok 6 dan 7 Teck Whye Avenue telah disiapkan sepenuhnya baru-baru ini. Objektif utama di sebalik projek khas 3GHub Majlis Perbandaran ini ialah merapatkan hubungan kekeluargaan. Ia akan menampilkan taman permainan untuk kanak-kanak kecil dan sudut kecergasan untuk warga emas. Dengan cara ini, seluruh keluarga dapat meluangkan masa bersama dan bersenam pada masa yang sama.

Beberapa rancangan penaikan taraf sedang disu-sun untuk lima tahun yang akan datang oleh Majlis Per-

bandaran dan pelbagai agensi kerajaan. Kita boleh me-mandang kehadapan bila mana Program Pembaharuan Kejiranan akan dilaksanakan di blok 130 hingga 146 di sepanjang Teck Whye Avenue, serta pembangunan semula yang dicadangkan kepada Choa Chu Kang Bus Interchange. Kami akan terus mengadakan lebih banyak kawasan hijau untuk penduduk kami.

Anda juga boleh menjangkakan sebuah tempat meletak kereta bertingkat-tingkat berdekatan dengan pasar Teck Whye yang akan lebih memudahkan pen-duduk apabila melawat kawasan tersebut tidak lama lagi. Untuk mereka yang suka berbasikal, laluan berba-sikal sepanjang 12.5 km merentasi bandar seperti yang dicadangkan akan dibina oleh LTA yang menjadikan aktiviti berbasikal lebih menyeronokkan dan jenis pen-gangkutan yang lebih selamat bagi penunggang dan pejalan kaki.

Walaupun landskap fizikal mengalami perubahan, satu nilai masih dikekalkan-ia itu semangat kekampung yang telah menjadi kebanggaan Chua Chu Kang se-jak sekian lama. Ia nampak dengan begitu jelas dalam tabiat penduduk kita - muda dan tua, tanpa mengira bangsa atau agama-bersatu untuk meraikan dan bantu-membantu antara satu sama lain. Banyak keluarga yang memerlukan terutama semasa kemelesetan ekonomi telah mendapat manfaat daripada program seperti Inisi-atif Jaga & Kongsi (IJK) kami. Semangat kemasyaraka-tan inilah yang menjadikan Chua Chu Kang istimewa.

The Fun Walkers @ SouthWest is one of the most popular community activities we have. Not only does it give you good, regular exercise, brisk-walking gives you a great opporltunity to get to know your neighbours and have a good chat.

We believe in celebrating ALL the Festivals. Not just the festivals that are part of our own religion and culture, but the festivals that are important to our neighbours and friends. We get to know one another better that way, and we have good times all through the year!

For Singapore to thrive – and for Chua Chu Kang to be everything

you want – it’s important for us all to come together as one community.

To help this happen, we have get-togethers, parties, dinners, outings and other events. We have organised sports leagues, clubs and interest groups.

Emergency Preparedness Day is an annual event organised by the constuency’s Community Emergency and Engagement Committee (C2E), the SCDF and Town Council to show neighbours what they can do in an emergency, and how to do it.

Mr Lee Kuan Yew decided that a clean and green Singa-pore would carry a competitive advantage and started planting trees in 1963. We continue the annual tradition of Tree Planting Day as the best way to nurture a love and respect for the trees that cool our neighbourhoods.

We’re growing our garden

We have great plans for the rail corridor; the section running beside the Sungei Pang Sua in particular. The international competition for design has closed and soon you will be able to give your feedback on the plans for the reuse of this wonderful 26km-long green path.

We are improving and adding parks. Choa Chu Kang Park is the green heart of our Town. It was recently ex-panded with new facilities such as innovative play areas for children. You’ll get to enjoy more new parks and lei-sure spaces such as the linear park at Keat Hong Close and a neighbourhood park at Keat Hong Link.

We are improving connectivity and accessibility by adding more sheltered linkways that are directly connected to MRT and LRT stations, as well as bus stops. This is all part of LTA’s Walk2Ride programme.

We’ll see 1,000 Government-funded buses running by 2017 for better service. The Downtown Line, opening soon, will connect with our LRT and offer an alternative for trips to the City. In 10 years, the upcoming Jurong Region Line will give us faster links to the West.

We’re growing our garden

We are building a network of approximately 12.5km of new off-road cycling paths in our Town. It’s part of the plan to build over 700km of cycling paths island-wide by 2030. LTA plans to implement the Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Panjang sectors around the same time, targeting completion in 2018 .

Together with the Ministry of Transport, we are looking into the possible redevelopment of the bus interchange within the next three to five years. This will be part of the broader redevelopment plans for the town centre.

Automated External Defibrillators, or AEDs, will be in-stalled in every other block by the end of 2016. And for your security, the Police will install CCTV cameras in all HDB blocks and multi-storey carparks by 2017.

Solar power panels will be installed on the roofs of 40 blocks in our Town and HDB plans to install more. Re-cently HDB called tenders under EDB’s SolarNova Pro-gramme, which aims to have solar power contribute 350 MWp to Singapore’s system by 2020.

To encourage a greener lifestyle and give you more con-venience and security, we will install two-tier bicycle racks in all blocks that now have insufficient parking space for bicycles.

We are building a multi-storey carpark at Teck Whye market. Eco-friendly and lush with greenery, it will bring new conveninece and buzz to the market. Costing ap-proximately $10m, completion is expected in late 2017.
