Introduction

• M-Commerce is a type of e - commerce conducted

Through mobile devices such as mobile phones, personal digital assistants (PDAs) and other devices with a wireless connection. It is quite different from traditional of E-commerce

What is M. Commerce?

• Mobile commerce is any business transaction which is initiated by using a mobile device, such as mobile phone. It is buying and selling of goods and services through a wireless handheld device such as PDA

• (Personal digital assistance), mobile phone or pocket pc etc……..

• Or

• M - Commerce is the process of paying for services using a mobile phone or personal organizer .

• M - Commerce is the use of mobile devices to communicate, inform, transact and entertain using text and data via a connection to public and private networks .

Difference betweenE.commerce & M.commerce

• E-commerce means doing business transactions on the Internet using computers or laptops. M-commerce means doing business transactions on the Internet through the use of mobile devices.

But you cannot always bring with you your computer or laptop anywhere. On the other hand M-commerce is very portable because mobile phones are very easy to carry.

Ticketing

Services provided by M.commerce

• Mobile Money Transfer

• Mobile money transfer services in Pakistan are now provided by the several companies under the names Easy Paisa, UBL Omni etc…….

• Mobile ticketing

• Tickets can be sent to mobile phones using a variety of technologies. Users are then able to use their tickets immediately, by presenting their mobile phone at the ticket check. Most number of users are now moving towards this technology.

Mobile ticketing technology can also be used for the distribution of vouchers, coupons, and loyalty cards. These items are represented by a virtual token that is sent to the mobile phone. A customer presenting a mobile phone with one of these tokens at the point of sale receives the same benefits as if they had the traditional token.

• A wide variety of information services can be delivered to mobile phone users in much the same way as it is delivered to PCs. These services include:

Mobile is the only technology which is now become necessary for any person in social and business life so it is easy to reach user through M.commerce

As more users use Mobile commerce so a lots company use M.commerce sites to reach them by giving different and better deals in comparision of their competitors

Demerits of M.commerce

• Smart phone limitations

• Mobile has no big screen like laptops so sometime user try to navigate more and more to choose one item from thousands

• Connectivity

• M.commerce needs high speed connectivity of 3g(4g).

• Security is not protected

• Habituate: every new technology have some problem at the starting phase.

• Here M.commerce is new technology so sometime people avoid to change

Future of M.commerce

• No doubt M.commerce need some development in specific area like secure transaction, better shopping experience and enhance graphics

• Other than this mobile commerce open new era of shopping

Future trends in M.commerce

• Small screens will grow and tablets will shrink to converge at a 7-inch (“Smart Tab” form factor)

• Mobile Commerce: M-Commerce is expected to grow over the next 4 years, as already 90% of consumers are using their smartphones for 'pre-shopping'. Did you know that more than 50% of Amazon shoppers bought their purchases online in the first quarter of this year!

• Mobile is mainstream now and will grow to dominate client computing for e-commerce.

• Cell phone users can check their bank account balances through text messaging.

• Small screens of most devices still limit types of file and data transfer (i.e. Streaming videos, etc.)

• Standards guiding applications and technology development and connection(s) still work-in-progress

• Less functionality for mobile internet over mobile phones and existing generation of handhelds

• User interface is often difficult to learn how to use

• Technology constraints of mobile devices (memory, processing power, display capabilities, input methods)

• Security of data moved across some mobile and wireless networks is a big concern for many consumers.

• Connectivity: mobile commerce needs high speed connectivity. Otherwise it is become hectic for user to go through entire product purchase process.
