Coyote Mammoth Dig Columbian Mammoths roamed eastern Washington throughout the Pleistocene Epoch (the last Ice Age). In November 1999, mammoth bones were discovered in a quarry south of Kennewick, Washington. The site was left undisturbed until it was rediscovered in 2008. At that time, it was established that the mammoth bones were located in Ice Age Flood deposits. Formal excavation of the site began in September 2010. Ongoing excavation provides an opportunity for students, teachers, scientists, and community volunteers to collaborate among several scientific disciplines. MCP 4 th graders and up have the opportunity to go experience this dig. A flier was sent home earlier this month. RSVP fast! We are limited to 23 children! Q & A

Helping Hands wants to help you by answering YOUR questions. Ask your question by emailing [email protected] and put “Newsletter Q&A” in the subject line.

Q: How do I know what my student’s MAP test score means?

A: Did your student give you a number on a Post-it note after the MAP test? First, find out whether they took reading or math. You can compare the score to the 2015 50th percentile scores on a paper in the MCP office. Later, you will receive a paper from your consultant that includes the scores for your student, how their score compares in the district, and their percentile score. It will show how the student scored in different areas of the test. If you have any questions, your consultant is the best person to ask first.

Q:How do I use the copy machine?

A: If you would like to use the copy machine in the MCP Family Room, the first step is to ask Brooks for a copy code. Then, enter your code in the copy machine to make copies. You are limited to 50 copies a month, and the copy machine will stop making copies when you have reached your limit. The counter will be reset each month. If you need more copies than this, or need a large item copied, please talk to the office staff about sending an order to Print Shop
