Where else can you walk through a redwood tree, play baseball on fabled Wrigley Field, and snow
tube in a drizzle and not get wet but in Manteca?
Some 2.7 million people in 2009 walked through the replica redwood tree at Man-teca’s Bass Pro Shops to enter an outdoor lovers’ paradise complete with a massive fish tank, indoor waterfalls, and various art and displays depicting the Delta, Sierra, and nearby Yosemite Valley. It won’t take you long to find out why the typical visitor stays at least two hours at the unique store located on the Highway 120 Bypass and Union Road.
A little over a mile away at the Highway 120 Bypass and Airport Way some 400,000 out-of-town visitors played ball and watched their friends and family play at the Big League Dreams sports complex. It features six replica Major League Baseball fields complete with stadium-style seating, two restaurants, an indoor soccer arena, and bat-ting cages plus a playground for the kids.
Just off the western end of the Highway 120 Bypass at Interstate 5 and Manthey Road nearly 130,000 people visit the Pump-kin Maze each year that is open throughout October complete with three corn mazes, a zip line, pumpkin blasters, train rides, and much more. Then from Thanksgiving week until Jan. 1 it turns into Christmas on the Farm. At the same time a 30-foot high covered snow hill is open and stays open until the end of February allowing young and old alike to snow tube and play in artifi-cial snow. Altogether 50,000 people visited Dell’Osso Christmas on the Farm and snow hill in its first season in 2009-10.
This visitors’ guide offers you a glimpse of the fun things you can do in Manteca and the nearby area. For more information go to www.visitmanteca.org, call (209) 823-7229 or drop by the only visitors center between Merced and Sacramento in The Promenade Shops at Orchard Valley anchored by Bass Pro Shops.
Give Manteca a try, be careful, though, as you might just end up falling for it Hook, Wine & Sneakers!

Bass Pro Shops – It is unusual when a retail business is considered a major tourist attraction until you see Bass Pro Shops. The 120,000 square-foot store was recently named the #1 outdoor retailer in America by Sporting Goods Business Magazine.
This beautiful store will take you from the mountains to the oceans with their beautiful hand-painted murals, and a 65’ drive through tree at the entrance.
Bear, deer, sheep and other wildlife in natural and action settings are set amidst boulders on top of a 24,000 gallon fresh water aquarium. Massive rockwork soar-ing 28' to 30' high above the aquarium rep-licates Yosemite's Half Dome and allows visitors to walk under the waterfall as it cascades into the fresh water aquarium.
When they say the average visit to Bass Pro is 2-4 hours they are not kidding. This is a sportsman’s dream come true and a place your children will want to come back to time & time again. Ladies, this is great for you too. Check out the clothes and the fudge store. They are both top notch.
Bass Pro is open from 9 AM – 10 PM, Monday – Saturday and 10 AM – 7:00 PM on Sundays.

A Tradition of Service. A Commitment to the Future.A Tradition of Service. A Commitment to the Future. For more than 100 years, the South San Joaquin Irrigation District has helped Manteca and South San Joaquin County grow.
In that century, SSJID has grown as well. We still deliver reliable, cost-efficient irrigation water for farmers and ranchers, but SSJID also does so much more. We generate clean, renewable electricity. We operate a state-of-the-art water treatment plant providing clean drinking water to several local communities, and we power that plant with one of the most advanced solar farms in the world.
In the century ahead, the South San Joaquin Irrigation District will continue to help this region thrive. With water, power and local leadership, SSJID is South San Joaquin County’s Partner in Progress.
