DermaVisage Step by Step DermaVisage includes both Diamond and Crystal Microdermabrasion as well as Colour Therapy all in one compact machine. Designed to offer the best of both worlds, DermaVisage allows therapists to choose their preferred ‘type’ of Microdermabrasion. Both Diamond and Crystal Microdermabrasion offer effective anti-ageing treatments, taking the natural process of skin renewal, which slows down as we age, and hastening it. The Diamond Microdermabrasion uses the hardest natural substance, diamonds, to effectively abrade the skin, smoothing and regenerating it. As there are no crystals, and therefore no vacuum is required to remove them, the treatment is fast and virtually silent. The four, treatment specific, variable speeds and four diamond tipped heads, which are supplied with the machine, allow the treatment to be tailored for any skin type, from sensitive to oily. Furthermore, there are no consumables, making it a hugely cost effective treatment for salon and spa owners. The Crystal Microdermabrasion uses a controlled flow of ultra clean Aluminium Oxide crystals, which are set in motion using vacuum. The Aluminium Oxide crystals are incredibly hard, the only substance harder, as previously mentioned, is diamonds, which means that it is possible to produce an extremely fine crystal. This crystal is highly effective at abrading the outer layer of dead skin cells. DermaVisage works using a ‘closed system’. This means that the crystals only flow when the hand piece is placed on the skin. This ensures absolute safety when using the machine, especially when treating areas close to the eyes. In combination with the DermaVisage product range, the machine may be used to regenerate the skin for fabulous anti-ageing results. Crystal Microdermabrasion may also be used to treat stretch marks and acne scarring. Used in combination or separately, the Colour Therapy treatment stimulates the skin’s cells to facilitate change. The inclusion of four colours (red, green, blue and yellow) using LED lights and set at varying wavelengths offers a wide range of benefits. For example, green cools and reduces redness, blue reduces swelling and offers antibacterial effects for the treatment of acne, red rejuvenates and stimulates the lymphatic system, whilst yellow tones and smoothes the skin, as well as promoting the production of collagen. Contraindications:

Sensitive skin can be treated using Microdermabrasion via the appropriate diamond head. It is unwise to treat clients with Psoriasis, Eczema or Neuro Dermitis, which is an allergy against

milk and protein that renders the skin brittle and dry, or to combine Microdermabrasion with any other invasive peeling techniques.

Broken skin, skin diseases, infections, cuts, abrasions, bruising, hypersensitive skin, broken veins and sunburn should be avoided

Clients who are diabetics or those with acne should not be treated. Clients who have had Botox should wait 6 weeks before treatment, Dermal Fillers 8 weeks and

Glycolic Peels 12 weeks Chromatherapy treatments are not appropriate for clients who suffer from photosensitive epilepsy,

migraines,Porphyria, autoimmune diseases (e.g. Lupus), albinism, those who tend to towards

psychological disorders and those using photosensitising herbs or medication (E.g., St John’s Wort, or Bergamot essential oil)

After care is very important as protection of newly abraded skin and hydration are key, so the therapist should prescribe homecare products to meet these requirements.

Make-up should be avoided for 24 hours. The treatment lasts around 45 minutes to 1 hour, although the length of the treatment and the number required varies according to the client’s requirements. 1. The skin is cleansed with a non-oily make-up remover to remove any impurities

2. To prepare the skin there are a variety of products: The Pre-Peel Lotion gently disinfects the skin and starts to soften the keratinised layer. The Enzymatic Mask is applied to loosen the cells from their bonds. The mask is left on the skin for 5 minutes until dry to the touch. The mask is removed by gently rubbing with gauze.

3. For Crystal Microdermabrasion, the level of vacuum, crystal flow and movement are selected to ensure that the appropriate strength of treatment is utilised for each area.

4. The treatment starts on the neck area. The therapist moves methodically around the face, performing the treatment over the surface of the skin. This allows the gentle removal of dead skin cells and stimulates the cells’ renewal process. At the end of the treatment any remaining crystals are simply brushed away

5. Once the treatment is complete Post-Peel Lotion is applied to gently disinfect and calm the skin. Then Oxygen Moisturiser is applied to nourish and protect while enhancing the regeneration of the skin. The Vitamin C Cream Gel Mask is then applied. It offers a high concentration of Vitamin C for regeneration and to increase collagen production. This creates a soft, smooth skin and increases the skin’s ability to absorb moisture. Finally the OPC regenerating cream is added. This is an anti-ageing/anti-wrinkle cream which improves the natural bonding of the collagen fibres in the connective tissue. It is also beneficial for damaged skin or skin that has been exposed to sunlight. The cream strengthens the connective tissue and provides a tightening effect on the skin.

6. For Diamond Microdermabrasion – Again the skin needs to be cleansed. Then the appropriate

diamond tip is selected. Four are supplied with the machine. This is then inserted into the handle and the Diamond function is selected.

7. Then the appropriate speed is selected. There are four treatment specific, variable speeds. This gives the therapist plenty of choice as to how they want to tailor the treatment for different skin types sensitive, oily etc.

8. The therapist works over the whole of the face and neck once or twice as necessary. The movement is always performed upwards and outwards, supporting the skin firmly. The therapist moves in the direction of the rotation (i.e., do not ‘fight’ the rotation).

9. Once the treatment is complete, the therapist can apply an appropriate ampoule for the client’s skin, and lightly effleurage it in. If your client’s skin is particularly dry, and you have seen a lot of skin shedding during the treatment, apply a generous layer of Vitamin C Cream Gel. Otherwise, apply the Ionto Gel that is most suited to your client’s skin type.

10. Select the Colour Therapy function on the unit. Place the goggles over the client’s eyes. Select

the appropriate colour and Hz setting for the skin condition you are treating. Move the applicator in a slow and methodical manner. Repeat these steps as many times as necessary, to treat your client’s conditions. Red increases blood flow and cell rejuvenation, activates and improves the function of the immune, lymphatic, nervous and vascular systems.

11. Blue cools, calms and soothes, has a bactericidal action, calms allergies and normalises sebum production.

12. Green improves inflamed conditions, relieves redness and helps to fade skin discolouration.

13. Yellow tones, smoothes and promotes the production of collagen for a superb anti-ageing effect.

14. Depending on the client’s skin type a Moisturising Lotion could be applied to complete the treatment.
