MDM: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go first?KAP:IactuallyhavenotbeentotheP.I.yet.I’dre-allyliketovisitmymotherlandandtrynottoembarrass myself. I’ll go before I leavethis half of the world, I know it.Maybe [also] somewhere tosee elephants in theirnaturalhabitats.

SPECIAL RELATIVE LEAVEAndfinally,hereisonethatIamgoingtothrowinforallofus who have friends and family off island. Okay, so here’sthedeal:yourbrotherhaslivedawayfromGuamforthepastlike28years;allhiskidsareadultsnowandhefinallygotthemoneyfromwhenhesuedhisneighborbecauseheslippedand broke his ankle when he fell down his stairs. He hasplanned and can finally make a trip back home to Guam.Uh-oh,here’swherethesuckeystuffstarts,becausetheentiretimeheisonvacationhere,YOUHAVETOWORK! Youwon’thavetoworkifwestartallowingwhatIcall,“MyfriendorfamilymemberfromtheStatesishereonvacationandIneedtospendtimewiththemLeave”tobetaken!

PARKOURAIn case you are wondering, the reason for mybody’s temporary demise is parkour, orfree running.

If you haven’t already seen parkour…YouTube it and you cannot deny this is a sport. The professionals that train for this are in the best possible physical shape.

Trustme,IthoughtIwasinprettygoodshape but then two friends and I wenttoworkonsomebasics.Soasapartofsacrificingmybodyforyou,theMDMreaders,herewasmyexperience. Firstly, please be warned that Ihighlyadvisesomekindofsupervisionfrom someone who knows what theyaredoing!Donotdowhatwedidandjustgostraightfromthenet! Afterwarmingupandstretchingwepracticedourrollsfirst.Itwaskindoffunnywatchinggrownmen(wellkindof)rollaroundonthegrass.Ireallywish Ibroughtmycamera! Oncewegot the rolldown we practiced landing into it. Even landingafteragaptakesalotofconcentration.Iknowthis

becauseIjackedmyankleonthesecondtry(hencetheneedforsupervision),butaftertighteningmyshoelacesIwasreadytorockagain! Oncewewereabletolandintotherollweputsomespeedintoit.IswearthatIhavenothadthatmuchfunsincethelasttimeIwentsnowboarding!

Sprinting and jumping off a ledge with a four foot drop and landing into a roll may sound crazy, or pointless, but once that can be linked with some of the more advanced moves it’s poetry in motion.

Ihatetobeclichébutitisabsolutelytrue. The next two things we tried to learn were twobasic vaults, the speed vault and the kong vault. Youwouldnormallyuseavaulttoovercomeanobstacleinyourpath.Soundseasyright?Wespentthemajorityofourdayworkingon themand this iswhere I received

most of the bumps and bruises. The speedvaultwasprettyeasytopickup. I justkeptforgettingtobringmylegclosesttothebenchforward.SoIguessyoucansayIpracticedalotofbackwardsrolls…Nowthekongvault,oh,thatdamnkongvault.Icanhonestlysaythatwithnoassistancefromschoolbullies,Ionceagainategrass!Needlesstosay,Ineedmoreworkonthekong.Afterbeingutterlydefeatedwespenttherestof the day climbing up and over a ten footwall.Thatbeingsaid…parkourisnojoke.IfyoucannotimaginewhatIamwritingaboutpleaselookituponlineandyoutoocansharethepainthatIaminrightnow.EventhoughI do not plan on back flipping off of a twostory building, I do plan on pursuing thistokeepmyselfinshape.Sortof…hopefullywithoutthebumpsandbruises!NextmonthIwillcoverbeachvolleyball…justintimeto
