With the Meaco DD8L Zambezi we wanted to incorporate all of the features that customers have requested over the years and to make the dehumidifier more interesting by incorporating some personality into the machine. As the clothes dry the moisture is released into the air and the air becomes damp, the room air feels colder, condensation forms on windows and mould grows faster. All dehumidifiers claim that they help to dry laundry but some do it better than others! Your granny will tell you that the best way to dry washing on the line in summer is on a warm, dry and windy day. It is therefore not a huge surprise to learn that the best way to dry washing indoors is by recreating those summer conditions.
Dehumidifiers create the dry air and the fan creates the wind but that wind has to hit the washing for the clothes to dry effectively and quickly. This is where the rotating louvre comes in, driving the dry air across the clothes, up and down, over and over again – you can even direct the air left or right if you have heavier clothes that need extra drying time. Customers who use a dehumidifier to dry their clothes put the clothes and the clothes horse into a small room with the dehumidifier next to them. Using a small room enables the dehumidifier to dry the air faster and achieve the low relative humidity that you need to dry the clothes. This is where Zambezi is different, whereas other dehumidifiers will just run and run regardless of the room conditions, Zambezi will sense that the air is dry enough for the clothes to dry and will reduce its energy consumption so that as little power as possible is being used. If possible it will switch into fan only mode and will only turn its dehumidification cycle back on if the relative humidity starts to rise again. So Zambezi could dry your washing in the same time or faster than other desiccant dehumidifiers and yet use up to 600 watts less. 1ST IN IT’S CLASS TO HAVE AN ON/OFF & DAILY RUN TIMERA common request from customers is “can I use it with a timer to make it run during off peak electricity hours?” The problem with using a timer with a dehumidifier is that for many dehumidifiers it is a good way of shortening their lifespan because you are in effect subjecting the dehumidifier to a power cut on a regular basis. Zambezi deals with this issue by having a built in clock that allows you to set a time for Zambezi to turn on at each day and a set time for it to turn off at each day. Like all good elephants Zambezi will remember these timings and repeat this run time every single day for you. So you if you want
your dehumidifier to run between 11pm and 6am each day you now can without harming your dehumidifier. Another great advantage of the Zambezi timer function is that it is one of the very few dehumidifiers in the world to have an on timer as well as an off timer. This is very useful because if you are a light sleeper you can set Zambezi to turn on after a couple of hours giving you plenty of time to fall asleep first. Zambezi is the first domestic dehumidifier in its class to offer this unique Timer + functionality.
1ST IN IT’S CLASS TO HAVE THE MEACO CONTROL 20+To keep running costs down dehumidifier owners tend to set the dehumidifier to a low setting, say single fan speed and 60%rh, especially when they are using the dehumidifier in an application whereby they will not be present, for example on a boat, caravan, in a garage or in a holiday home. With Zambezi you can set the dehumidifier up with the hose to drain the water away down the sink, set your target relative humidity and then walk away and leave the dehumidifier to safely get on with things. But what if you have selected the wrong fan speed and the relative humidity starts to increase and you are miles away, unaware that all is not well?
No problem with Zambezi, if the relative humidity increases 20%rh above your set point then Zambezi will increase its fan speed for you and will work harder until it has brought the relative humidity back under control and will then settle back into your preferred setting. Another great feature of Zambezi is the memory effect. If there is a power cut then Zambezi will not forget your settings (Elephant’s never do!) and when the power comes back on Zambezi will start to work once more just as you left him. Perfect control, as if by magic with Meaco 20+.

On Zambezi’s display you can see the current relative humidity and temperature, set your target relative humidity between 40 and 70%rh, set an on timer, off timer or daily run timer (Timer+), choose one of the three fan speeds,

UNIQUE MEACO CONTROL LOGICWe all want our dehumidifiers to reduce the relative humidity to a level that is comfortable for us in our homes but we need a balance between accurate relative humidity control and saving energy. Zambezi does that with the digital display enabling you to be precise about the relative humidity you select. Once the target has been reached Zambezi will go to sleep for 30 minutes and will wake up for a couple of
minutes to check the air to see if the relative humidity has changed. If things are stable then it will sleep for another 30 minutes, if the relative humidity has increased then Zambezi will start to work again. The perfect balance between accurate humidity control and saving energy.
