AnimationA simulation of movement created by displaying a series of pictures, or frames. Cartoons

on television is one example of animation. Something that can be created in real life so you can only see it once processed and

edited.Different types of animation are:2D Animation - 2D animators use a combination of creative skills and specialty computer

programs to create images that have the appearance to movement. 2D animation works on a two-dimensional platform, unlike 3D, which adds depth perception to the work. To simplify the concept, consider a square to be two dimensional and a cube three dimensional.

3D Animation – 3D animation is made from CGI and must be three Dimensional. This is useful because more effective pieces of work can be made using 3D compared to 2D.

Claymation – This is a combination of stop motion animation and using clay models that are moved slightly before each image is taken to create an illusion of movement when the images are shown in sequence.

Stop Motion - A model or puppet (shadow puppets were used in early stop motion) is shot a frame at a time, with tiny changes in position being made between each frame.

Talking Heads

A person on television, often a newscaster, who is shown only from the shoulders up, and speaks without the use of any illustrative material. An example if this is on head and shoulders adverts when the user talks about the product in a positive way. Another would be talking about how an accident has effected them and the help they received by a certain company.

Stand Alone

A stand alone advertisement is a form of advert that is a one off, there will not be another advert by the same company that is related in terms of the story. A stand alone advertisement as a beginning and an end, no other advertisement from the same company will start the ad where the last one finished. Yell produced many stand alone advertisements in a three month campaign of adverts to tell their consumers their new phone number.

Series

An advert that is part of a series has a constantly developing story. The series usually has a main character and additional characters. BT uses a series of adverts. In each of their adverts we see a family consisting of a mother, her son, her daughter and her new husband. This family goes through some problems that audience members will be able to relate to and in the series, BT broadband helps the family to cope with trouble they face.
