Urban Big Wall Climbing Experience
On some hot summer weekend, we'll break out the climbing gear, set up the anchors and the fixed ropes, then use a Jumar / GriGri combination to climb about 50' to the top of the window-wall and then rap back down again. Typically, this gear setup is used to clean a pitch - see http://www.chockstone.org/TechTips/Jug.htm - but we'll use it to clean the windows in-stead. The climbing is easy, the anchors are bomb-proof, the view is spectacular -- and there's cold beer in the fridge at the top.

Fly Casting Lesson Beginning fly casting - private lesson - taught by Bryce Anderson (Jule's better half?) Ever seen those guys in the river, fly rods arching rhythmically back and forth, loops of line unfurling across the water? If you've ever been curious about try-ing it out, now's your chance! I've successfully taught stu-dents that ranged in age from 7-65, and were everything from fishing neophytes to fishing veterans simply new to fly fishing! Come learn several fly-casting techniques (basic, double-haul, roll, slingshot, steeple, reach) and their ap-plications on a local, free-stone river. If you don't have your own gear, I will supply a 3 or 5-weight rod, line, and flies for you to use. While on location, we will also prac-tice reading the river for potential fish-holding water. If things go our way, we might even hook up! After this, you might never look at rivers in quite the same way again.

The Bars healing modality is a tool that is designed to facilitate more consciousness for every-one and help you release your perceived blocks and limitations to being the infinite being that you truly are. “The Bars” are 32 bars/points of energy running through and around your head that connect to different aspects of your life, such as healing, body, control, awareness, creativity, power, aging, sex and money. They store the elctromagnetic component of all the thoughts, ideas, attitudes, decisions and beliefs that you have ever had about anything Just by touching one bar, you begin to clear away the energy locked up in that aspect of your life. Touch a second one and you not only get the “issues” fromt the first Bar, you also begin clearing the “issues” stored in that second Bar PLUS clearing all the point of view about those two Bars in relation to each other, allowing for exponential change. Simply by touching the Bars, you effectively erase everything you have ever stored there.

The Last Polar Bear
The Last Polar Bear places the reality of climate change in our hands. We see the plight of the polar bear, an indicator species already feeling the detrimental effects of our reliance on fossil fuels, as its icy habitat melts. Over the course of the last six years, wildlife photographer Steven Kazlowski has photo-graphed the polar bear in its wild habitat, from Hershel Island in Canada to Point Hope in Alaska. The Last Polar Bear pairs his intimate images with anecdotes about his Arctic adven-tures, as well as authoritative essays about the polar bear in the context of climate change.

The K2 Backout Skis are sweet all-mountain ski that you can take just
about anywhere including the back country where it truly excels. It offers Triaxial
Braiding which consists of braiding fiberglass around its Aspen/Paulownia Wood
Core to provide torsional rigidity. The benefit is torsional strength while still hav-
ing the lively flex of the wood core. A Torsion Box Cap construction helps make
these skis light and very versatile so you can ski with ease, forgiveness and plenty
of energy. Head to the other side of the mountain for some awesome backcountry
skiing on a pair of the K2 Backout Skis.
Indy 124 — MV: $75
The K2 Indy is a great ski for kids that are starting to progress in their skiing.
K2's All Terrain Rocker initiates turns easier, to help get your little guy to start carving
turns instead of skidding them. The tip rocker also helps deflect the negative energy
caused by the crud that can accumulate on the busy groomers. The Torsion Box cap con-
struction gives the Indy plenty of snap and rebound, without being too stiff for younger
lighter weight skiers. It also keeps the swingweight down, meaning less fatigue for the
little guy so he can enjoy himself on the slopes all day with the family.

Juvy 109 — MV: $150 The K2 Juvy is a perfect ski for the grom who has been or is starting explore the
ungroomed terrain, or skiing in the park. The All Terrain Rocker has tip rocker with cam-
ber underfoot. Tip rocker will help him engage a turn quicker on the groomers, and float
in the powder. An Aspen Wood Core that has a Torsion Box wrapped around it, has plen-
ty of stability and pop, without being too stiff or overly demanding for lighter weight rip-
pers. At 75mm underfoot the Juvy has the width to support smaller skiers in the
ungroomed terrain, but not too wide that he is slow edge to edge. The Directional Taper
that the Juvy has will help her start to ski and land switch if your son is so adventurous,
so he can start to explore the park, but that does not take away from the all mountain ca-
pabilities of the ski. If you have been looking for a ski that your son can take everywhere,
that looks good for him, and works for you to, grab him a K2 Juvy today, so he can stay
out on the slopes and out of juvy.

Press 169 — MV: $220
The Newly designed K2 Press is a perfect inexpensive twin tip or it can make a great tran-
sitional ski for the younger lighter weight rider. The Jib Rocker has zero camber underfoot
with slight tip and tail rocker that make slides, butters, and ollies much easier. The Park
Flex Pattern has softer tips and tails, and stays stiff underfoot for stability when carving
and tuning on the hard snow. A Triaxial Braided Cap Construction is lightweight and for-
giving, just for the mellow skier. An Aspen Wood Core provides the Press with lots of pop,
and spring, and has a low swing weight so your first 3 can easily turn in to your first 5,
then even your first 7. The Press has a Directional Taper that will always keep you head-
ing in the right direction, even if you are skiing switch or not. K2 has added some Tip and
Tail Hardware to the Press for added durability so you do not have to worry about blow-
ing your tip or tail apart when you have one of those nasty back slapper landings. If you
are looking for a durable, inexpensive twin tip for the mellow park skier the K2 Press is
your ski.

Woman’s Super Burning 153 — MV: $240 The SuperFree is new from K2 this season. An advanced ski that is designed to be taken in both groomed and
ungroomed snow conditions. The All Terrain Rocker, is rocker in the tip, and slight tail rocker that helps you
float on top of the powder, and broken snow, and initiate turns quicker on the groomers. A 76mm waist is a
perfect width for having some speed edge to edge and some float in the powder. Hybritech Sidewalls are cap
construction in the tip and tail with a vertical sidewall on the majority of the ski, is a slightly more demanding
feel, but superior edge grip. Perfect for the Midwest and Back East ice. The Marker/K2 ERS (Energy Response
System) is a full pound lighter than the previous binding system, and the integrated hubs are closer together to
accommodate a smaller boot sole, and maintain a smooth flexing ski. The Bioflex 2 core is 70% aspen 30% pau-
lownia wood has plenty of torsional strength without being too heavy or demanding. A superific ski for most
women, intermediates will love it and improve their skiing, enough ski for most experts, the SuperFree appeals
to a wide range of women.
Line Prophet 85 — MV: $400 The Line Prophet 85 is a new ski this season. Built with the long
time Prophet construction, now available with a skinnier waist.
At 85mm underfoot the 85 can be a great all mountain twin for
those that prefer long groomers and the park, to the backcountry
and variable terrain. The Line Metal Matrix gives the Prophet
series, strong torsional, and lateral strength, without adding too
much extra weight, like skis with edge to edge metal can. The
rocker profile of the Prophet 85 has traditional camber under-
foot, with 61mm of early rise in the tip, and 34mm of early rise in
the tail. The early rise in the tip helps the Prophet 85 initiate
quicker turns on the groomers, adds some extra float in some
powder, and absorbs the negative vibrations caused by crud and
bumps. Early rise in the tail helps the 85 release out of a turn
quicker, and smear some turns when the snow gets soft. A 19.5
meter turning radius will keep you cruising in longer faster turns
at ease. A great ski for someone who will spend most of their
time on the groomers, or the Midwestern who will spend a few
days in the Rockies, that like a longer turning moderately stiff
ski.

Line Influence172 — MV: $450
The Influence 115 is here to bring a new level of fun to big
mountain skiing. Starting with the key elements that make
Line skis what they are the Influence 115 uses the Maple
Macroblock core and a full sidewall construction to form
the backbone. For high speed enjoyment a Metal Matrix
sheet is laid over the core to keep the ski in contact with the
snow, eat up chatter, and step up the power. This means the
Influence 115 wants, and likes, to go fast. To make the ski
incredibly manageable at speed Line borrows P-cut geome-
try from the Prophet series. P-Cut uses an aggressive radius
in the tip of the ski that mellows towards the waist and tail
giving the 115 predictable turn initiation at any speed with
directional power. Framed in a 115mm waisted package
with generous Early Rise (25cm x 6mm) the Influence 115
has all the tools needed for big mountain performance.
With it's edge hold and nimble feel the 115 can be skied
from a strong intermediate skier through expert skiers and
because of it's broad appeal the Influence 115 is putting the
fun in big mountain skiing.
