MAT Compact LSS Units are designed to provide biological, mechanical, chemical, and disinfection filtration in the smallest footprint than any other alternative filtration. The unique design is energy efficient, running all filtration with only one low energy consumption Venturi fitted Speck pump. The Skid Units are gravity fed & are fitted with one main feed Speck pump. Uniquely designed for simple operation to achieve the best possi-ble filtration, the Skid Systems are equipped with: High Performance built-in Protein Fractionator/ Skimmer & sludge auto wash system, Trickle Filter Bioreactor, Moving Bed Bioreactor, Multipurpose media canister -suitable for Active Carbon, Phosphate Absorption Media Bio-pellets, Ultraviolet Disinfection System, Ozone Generator System, Water Level Sensors with alarm, mechanical Flow sensors through all built in systems, Basic Functions Button Console, Venturi Pump, Feed Pump, IP64 Fuse Box and Steel 316 Bolts and Nuts.

Our skid units are manufactured in-house from Polypropylene plastic by SIMONA AG, offering robust fab-rication, appropriate for heavy duty use, made to operate in saline and humidity conditions. All units come fully assembled and hydro tested for fast & trouble-free installation on site. For optimum mechanical filtra-tion capacity, MAT recommends the addition of an AFM pressurized filter. MAT PROTEIN FRACTIONATOR SKIMMERS (PSK) have been designed after many years of testing on high bio load water conditions at our research facility. Designed to provide quality performance, ease of opera-tion & robust fabrication. MAT PSK units manufactured in-house in polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP) plastic, by SIMONA A.G. MAT PSK come in a variety of standard sizes and can be customized to suit any facility size and flow parameters.

MAT PSK units competitive advantage is the quality fabrication & the ease of operation. PSKunits carry MAT & uniquely engineered Venturi, infusing the correctly balanced amount of Oxygen and Ozone inside the PS body, achieving maximum saturation of Ozone in the treated water. Furthermore, the PSK & internal design is made in such a way as to create & retain the finest air bubbles up to the skimmer cup. This process results in maximum performance, producing a bio/ protein waste that is significantly thicker than industry standard. MAT PSK units are not & temperamental & in their operation; therefore, there is no need for constant fine adjustment once the PSK is commissioned.

MAT PSK units, optionally, arrive with sludge Auto Wash System, allowing the outer cap to be rinsed with fresh water and the inner neck rinsed with system water minimizing the loss of water. MAT PSK units may be manufactured upon request to operate with fresh water. MAT PSK come with a pre-fitted IP67 electrical switch board in line with the most stringent safety regulations. All components and materials are rated to operate under high salinity & humidity condensed environments.

MAT Protein Skimmer operation is based on the Centrifugal mechanical removal of organic com-pounds. MAT PSK optimize operation is through ozonized air which is injected into thetreated wa-ter, as a stream of fine bubbles, by a low-pressure venturi set. As the bubbles rise up through the wa-ter column, proteins and other surface-active com-pounds are attracted to each other. The organic

coat/ bio sludge is clogged in fine bubbles as they rise up through the water column. This foam is ejected from the protein skimmer through the efflu-ent pipe and is discharged to the sewer or the back-wash treatment.An important secondary effect of protein skimming is the removal of fine particulate material (<40 micron) that attaches to the foam.

OPERATION & ENGINEERING

MAT OZONE GENERATORS utilize one low energy consumption air dryer, to supply dry air to the Oxygen Concentrators. The dried air is supplied to the Oxygen Concentrators by an oil free compressor. These Ox-ygen Concentrators work on the PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption)principle, leading to a high purity ~93%, discriminated from air Oxygen, which is ready for the final process step through the Ceramic Corona Cell. The process inside to the Ceramic Corona Cell involves a powerful electric discharge that splits Oxygen molecule to atoms, which for stability reasons, they are attached to other intact Oxygen molecules forming Ozone. All the components of the MAT ozone generators are repairable and replaceable.

MAT OZONE DESTRUCT UNIT is an apparatus containing Activated Carbon Media, used to convert excess Ozone to Oxygen which is finally delivered to the ambient open air. It is an essential safety measure against residual ozone concentration after water treatment process. The MAT Ozone Destruct Units will safely and rapidly destroy any exceeded ozone quantity, offering a product selection between 20lt, 40lt and 60lt of Ac-tivated Carbon Media content.

OPERATION & ENGINEERING

Ozone, as an unstable gas, requires local production and consumption where the disinfection process takes places. However, it is a corrosive gas and so harmful and toxic to any living organism that needs direct and rapid destruction wherever and as little as may be detected. Excess ozone and humid air mixture is flowing from the disinfection point to the Ozone Destruct Unit inlet, where the mixed with ozone air is firstly separat-ed from the carried along water and the last is collected and then drained off. After this separation, the dry air-ozone mixture flows into the vessel and passes through the Activated Carbon Media, where the ozone to oxygen transformation reaction takes place. A blower located at the vessel outlet creates the appropriate sub pressure field and subsequently delivers enriched with oxygen air to the open surroundings.

MAT AFM FILTERS are rapid, pressurized multilayer filters filled in with Activated Glass Filter Media (AFM) in-stead of sand to double the process performance. The AFM media offers 300 times more surface area than the sand media, is electrostatically charged to absorb organic substances and small particles and finally the metal oxide catalysts located on its surface make the AFM self-sterilizing, as well. The developed filtration speed varies between 20 25m/ h at a pressure rate of 2.5 bar. The specific filter configuration offers extra resistance to bio-fouling, to bio-coagulation and does not permit any unfiltered water to escape due to tran-sient wormhole water channeling.

MAT AFM FILTERS may be backwashed by reversing the water delivery to flow from the lower to the higher media layers collecting and discharging the deposited particulate matter to the effluent waste line. The MAT AFM FILTERS vessels are made from Bobbin Wound FRP or laminated FRP vessels, venilester coated offering optimum ozone osmosis protection, pneumatic or motor actuated manifold, manometers and air pressure relief valves.

MAT AFM FILTERS present the solution for optimal and total water filtration at lower power consump-tion rates when compared to traditional sand fil-ters. The media used allow ease of operation and although a higher initial investment, the ROI is fast.

The waste water is dispersed evenly over the Activated Filter Media by diffusers which are located on the upper part of the vessel. MAT MOVING BED BIOFILM REACTORS are biological filters, designed to efficiently enable the organic load degradation, either as a part of a Life Support System or more generally, as an apparatus to treat any Waste-water Treatment Process. MAT Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor receives the overflowed and loaded with organic pollutants from service facilities water, at its vessel base, leading it subsequently upwards through the moving filter bed, to be discharged on the top and inside to the reactor vessel. The polyethylene bio-balls surface is used for the moving bed biofilm layer of the microorganisms’ growth and activity. The microorganisms’ biofilm activity converts the organic load to NO3 is enhanced by continuous air injection into the moving bed volume. MAT special design has optimized the air mixing process through high pressure air injection and fine air bubble subsequent formulation.

MAT TRICKLE FILTERS – WET DRY FILTRATION SYSTEMS are fixed-bed, aerated, biological filters designed to convert the toxic, nitrogen waste found in aquarium water to non-toxic and easily removable byproducts. MMAT TRICKLE FILTER bio-tower, receives pre- filtered aquarium wastewater and it trickles it through aerat-ed solid media (PE bio balls). The media surface offers the layer onto which a biomass of suitable microor-ganisms is being attached and growing. These are the bacteria that remove the ammonia from the waste-water through chemical reactions in the presence of Oxygen reinforced by an air blower. The released energy is necessary for the bacteria growth and as well, the required amount of Oxygen represents the measure of the waste load to be removed, forming the crucial factor called BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand). MAT designed SPECK pumps, coming only in color yellow, meet the corrosion resistant requirements of saline water, offering a wide range of pumps delivering from 4m3/h up to 250m3/h. MAT SPECK Pumps are fabricated to withstand harsh operating conditions and to transfer acidic and saline fluids.
