Mechanical Impact for Materials in Ambient Pressure LOX

Test 13a from NASA-STD-6001

• Purpose: Determine if materials in oxygen environments react when mechanically impacted

• These tests determines the sensitivity or potential for ignition of a material when exposed to mechanical impact in LOX

Mechanical Impact for Materials in Ambient Pressure LOX

Test 13a from NASA-STD-6001

• Typical Specimen– Liquids and solids at

minimum use thickness• Test Conditions

– LOX at ambient pressure• Acceptance Criteria

– 20 samples must not react when impacted at 98 J

– If one sample reacts, 40 more must be tested without reactions to pass
