Priests
Had much power.
Burgess
Craftsmen or
merchants.
Farmer
In the Middle Ages most people where farmers.
The women took
care of the work at
home and the men
did the work
outdoors.
The food
They grew their own food and
everone on the farm helped
with that.
They mostly cultured barley,
ray and oats. Barley was most
important and was used for
bread, porridge and making
beer.

They dried or salted the food, the meet
from their animals, fish, fruits etc.
There were no refrigerators or freezers
Every farm had it´s own garden where
they grow vegetables such as
cabbage, carrots and onions.
They had no potatoes in medieval
times.
They drank water or beer with their
meal.
The craftsmen were:
shoemakers
gunsmiths
jewelers
weavers
sail makers etc.
Merchants
The merchants bought and sold gods.
They came from Sweden or other countries.
Many merchants came from Germany and
we have many German words left in
Swedish today.
Spices, cloth, gold and silver were sold to Sweden..
Iron and copper were the main Swedish goods.
The nobility were the richest. The were great farmers, owned many farms and often lived in castles.
They held war equipment for the king.
A few nobles were knights.
They were the bravest warriors.
