I have chosen to do a rap magazine for my media product. I would say it is similar to the magazine VIBE, the main audiences for that would be, the same audiences as my own, which goes from late teens to young adults.

1.Who would be the audience for your media product?

My magazine is different as we concentrate a bit on fashion. This would be one of our key selling points. The images for my magazine are appropriate for the set audience. The pictures are relevant as they show a lifestyle that revolves around rap, this implies straight away that my magazine is a rap magazine.

1.Who would be the audience for your media product?

We concentrate partially on fashion as this gives you ideas on how to interpret and improve your style. There is a vast majority of audiences that are strongly influenced by the fashion industry. This is why my magazine is aimed at mid teens to young adults.

The social group my magazine is aimed at would be very influenced by rap and listen to a selection of rap artists. My cover star shown as a perfect image towards rap fans.I have used a variety of products to portray a certain image for my star. Such as: he is wearing a converse jumper. Converse is seen as a popular brand. Therefore people would see my star as a popular performer.

2.How does your media product represent particular social groups?

My magazine would be a weekly edition. It would sell every Thursday and feature stars of my choice, their albums and include their prices. The social media likes reading interviews/articles from a variety of high class stars, therefore I would include these in my magazine, containing interesting facts and conversations with set performers. My magazine would also feature certain styles for the ‘fashion lovers’ to give them more inspiration.

3.What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

My distribution techniques: Twitter - hash tags and

accounts Instagram Gigs, tours, festival stages Music channels on TV Facebook pages and groups Online radio Websites

3.What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

My magazine would be priced at £2.99 and you can purchase it every week on Thursday. Or you can subscribe it monthly for £5.99.

I have chosen to compare my magazine to ‘Vibe’ because I am making a rap magazine for late teens to young adults.I have used similar features to vibe magazine’s double page spreads, contents pages and front covers and used several ideas such as using one main photo rather than several other little ones and putting said photo to the side so to avoid using so much space up, which therefore allowed more spacefor the other things such as theactual information containedIn the page.

4.In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Page 11: Media assessment

There is several similarities between my Double page spread and the main one will be that there is one main photo that takes up lots of if not all of a full page. It contains lots of text and basic information at the top of the article.

4.In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

I identified my social media platform by researching music tastes and fashion for my set audience.I attracted my set audiences attention by informing everyone about my magazine. By using other social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, updating partial information about what will be in my magazine and containing vital statistics to give off a good impression.I also sent out a questionnaire about rap music to a variety of people of all ages, this makes my questionnaire non-biased, therefore it is fair to take everybody’s opinion into consideration. Taking everybody’s opinion into account, I created a magazine to the best of my ability, using peoples ideas to show them that I have listened to what they had to say. This will make the audience more interested as I’m using facts that aren’t just my own.

5.How did you attract/address your audience?

Page 13: Media assessment

I have learnt that it isn’t easy to construct a product of my own, in my opinion I think it is easier to create a product when you have something to go from, an example of this would be a section or starting off point and then expanding it, such as what we did by making an Aquinas magazine, then using that to modify and use it as a base for our actual music magazine.

6.What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Page 14: Media assessment

7. Looking back at your preliminary task (Aquinas College magazine), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression to the full product?

I think that looking at both my Aquinas magazine and then my music magazine there are a few minor difference and a couple of major differences. The first would be to point out that the Aquinas magazine was done on Publisher as opposed to the music magazine which I did on Photoshop, so there were more tools and options for me to use when it came to doing my music magazine. I think that I learnt that you can make a better quality picture and edit something to look better if you do it on Photoshop as that is what the program is for whereas publisher is used mainly for document making. I learnt that by using Photoshop I would get a more professional looking image.

This is the application that I would make to boost the magazines popularity.

Application.
