Withholding informationHolding back or refusing to provide certain information to the public.

The article shown above discusses a subject of interest to many people, the withholding of information doctors have towards terminal patients. This has caused many ethical issues amongst the population, and in the case of Merry, it brought many dilemmas to her family members due to the depression they felt after not being able to say goodbye. http://www.omicsonline.org/truth-telling-to-terminally-ill-patients-to-t

Destroying informationThe act of dismantling important

information, that deprives the audience from the evidence.

The example shown reads “game of bans…” from its title we can clearly see how the Pakistani government banned Indian Today and other Indian media for publishing a picture of a Pakistani army chief, that publicly humiliated him upon the audience.

Altering informationModifying data, creating false facts. The news article is a great example

of the following censorship category, due to the fact that the picture is photoshoped. It was altered because the author wanted to provide a humanitarian excuse for Western countries to become involved in the Syrian crisis. In reality, this kid was rescued from the ruins of a building in Syria without showing any injuries.

Self-censorshipMost commonly authors, bloggers and writers censor their stories because they are

afraid that the audience will find out the truth. This is known as self-censorship, due to the fact that the author himself is the one modifying and withholding the data.

The following article was written by a journalist working for Niko Resources. The writer intends to clarify the “misunderstanding” there was with an article in Indian Press that was raising questions amongst the audience. Calgary tries to rebuild the negative image installed in the readers minds by justifying and showing the company's motives. The reason why he covered the story was because he was afraid that the company will go after him or he could lose his job.

ConclusionCensorship has always been a part of the news world as well as our daily lives. It has become human's nature to alter, eradicate, and hide information due to fear or other personal purposes. The task may seem easy at the time, but nowadays it’s a felony to withhold or alter evidence.

Censorship affects many aspects of human lives by taking away their freedom of speech, depriving them from knowing the truth, raising insecurities and anger amongst the audience. We should be concerned about this issue, by cause of the resentment and lack of trust it may cause on the world population.
