Magazines

• Newspapers have been privately held since their inception in India. They have brought out magazines and both together have been termed ‘print media’. 265 magazines registered with RNI, 71 brought out regularly.

• As with newspapers, the circulation of vernacular magazines is higher than revenue figures. Ad-revenue is skewed in favour of English magazines. India Today with its vernacular editions is the top grosser.
