Your Move, Says Ramco Tuesday, 14 September 2010 15:17 Written by Rakesh Dogra Ramco Systems leveraged the global presence of world chess champion Vishwanathan Anand to announce its new ERP software called the Ramco OnDemand ERP 2.0, or RODE 2.0 Anand launched RODE 2.0 in New Delhi, India on September 9. RODE 2.0 is a full suite web‐enabled ERP and handles all IT needs.
Ramco Systems has been in the business of IT consulting, products, and services since 1989. The company boasts more than 100,000 users from more than 800 organizations around the world. RODE 2.0 is the first full‐fledged offering from India in the ERP domain. Its features include simplicity of operation, high modularity, and comprehensive ERP functions like asset management, maintenance management, MIS, supply‐chain management, cost planning and control, financial management, CRM, human capital management, and so on. RODE 2.0 also allows its users to receive customizable reports, extend functionality and integrate with core ERP on the cloud, and create web‐based portals and portals to hold uniquely applicable analysis and reports. ERP extendibility is delivered via Ramco’s Extension Development Kit (EDK), which provides customers extreme flexibility in creating unique functions. In keeping with the times, RODE 2.0 also provides users the ability to conduct business using their mobile devices. Business intelligence, an important part of many companies’ arsenals, receives a boost from the RODE 2.0 analytics tool, which collects and processes data in real time. According to P.R. Venketrama Raja, vice chairman, managing director, and CEO of Ramco Systems, RODE 2.0 is a highly flexible software that “extends the ERP and customizes reports on the cloud” for its customers. More than 200 clients are using RODE 2.0 right now. These customers belong to a cross‐section of industries like dairy, manufacturing, automobile, and trading. Companies like Brakes India, Rentco DLF, and eChoupal have benefited from working with Ramco Systems. Hindustan Motors has benefited from RODE 2.0 in many ways. As Amar Singh Rathore, country head for the LCV division of Hindustan Motors, avers, the RODE 2.0 has given the company flexibility through the pay‐for‐use model. Its user friendliness ensures that “we conduct business transactions and access business information over the Internet.” The software also delivers the benefits of reduction in total cost of ownership and a rich set of features for user interfaces. These benefits have been made possible because RODE 2.0 is based on Ramco’s VirtualWorksT platform. This platform is uniquely flexible and offers the option of being used along with other third‐party components or as a standalone system. It also offers data consolidation, legacy transformation, application integration, and business process orchestration capabilities.
The simplicity of use is apparent in RODE 2.0’s ability to simultaneously manage several thousand business transactions and intricate functions like MRP over diverse industries on a single software instance. RODE 2.0 is also capable of going live in seven days, as opposed to the several months needed for conventional ERP solutions. Ramco Systems has also taken into account the problems of nonavailability of skilled resources to implement ERP packages in client offices. With the availability as a service of RODE 2.0, clients don’t have to worry about using and managing an ERP. They can continue to focus on increasing their business. Ramco has also taken care to differentiate this product from the “one size fits all” maxim that most traditional cloud applications follow. In delivering all these advantages, RODE 2.0 also enhances security offerings with SSL certificates and firewall measures. RODE’s multiplayer architecture deploys enhanced security features for its users. The upgrade to RODE 2.0 is free and available seamlessly to all of Ramco’s 2,000 users from more than 200 organizations. Ramco plans to take this offering to the world as well, noting the extensive interest in cloud‐based ERP in the Indian subcontinent. Interestingly, the market for SaaS‐driven ERP in India alone is at $7 million and constitutes 2.2% of the total ERP market, which is $310 million in India.
