QUESTION 3What have you learned from your audience

feedback?QUESTION – WHICH WOULD BE YOUR PREFERED SETTING FOR A HORROR FILM?

ADAM: Every horror movie that I watch takes place at abandoned buildings. I feel that this area attracts audiences into the film and gets them excited about the film itself.JOE: To create a good horror movie trailer I feel the destination has to be someone's home. This is because I feel the atmosphere is lost when filming in the woods or outside.LUKE: Looking at the options given I would like the trailer to be filmed in a castle. This is because it makes the film realistic to the audience.GEORGE: I also feel that the destination for the film should be in a abandoned building, this is because it keeps the audience interested.

As I look back at the feedback that was given before and after the three different products were made. I have learned from my audience feedback and tried to take forward their ideas.

At the very start of this coursework, questionnaires were sent out to sample of my target audience via Survey Monkey. With these questionnaires, we the makers of the film would get an honest opinion on the direction of our film. From the feedback I gained knowledge on the direction that our film should go in. For example, from the questionnaire I knew what my target audience would like for the name of the film, the villain of the film and the setting for the film. With this feedback I was able to make decisions on the area that I will go in for my horror movie products.

With the responses from the questionnaire I was able to plan ahead with the location for our horror movie project. I was also able to use their opinions in many different other questionnaires.

QUESTION 3What have you learned from your audience

feedback?QUESTION – WHAT IS YOUR OVERALL OPINION ON THE PHOTOS, WEBSITE AND POSTER?

ADAM: The photos that have been used for the product have been constructed carefully. The photos used have also had plenty of time taken over them to get the correct composition and angle for the products.JOE: The overall look of the poster is extremely good, this is because the poster looks like a poster designed for the cinema. However, I feel the Spectre title comes across as too similar to the James Bond film.LUKE: The website overall looks strong. However, to improve the website I feel that you could have included the trailer onto the homepage of the website.GEORGE: To improve the photos I feel that a better quality photo could have been used for the website. I feel that on the website, the image of Emily is weak and needs more work.

With the trailer, poster and website taking place I was able to get audience feedback from a focus group made up of my peers. For example, when I was taking the photos for the website and poster, I got feedback and my group and friends before I decided that the photo was good enough. As I putting the website together, I wanted feedback from the teacher on the poster and website. The feedback that I got from my peers gave ideas to take forward. With these opinions I was able to make decisions on the title of the film for the products. For example, when asking about the title, one person suggested many different ideas, this meant that I was able to decide on a title or develop a title further. With the feedback from the audience I was able to make the changes that were suggested, with these improvements I feel that the product looked good at the stage it was at.

From this feedback from my peers I have learned that getting feedback and other people will improve your different products. This is because with the feedback I am able to make changes and improve the products.

QUESTION 3What have you learned from your audience

feedback?QUESTION – IS THERE IMPROVEMENTS YOU SUGGEST TO MAKE TO IMPROVE THE TRAILER?

ADAM: The trailer is extremely strong and underlines the point/idea of the film extremely well. However, I do feel that the audience will struggle to know who they should feel sympathy towards.JOE: Throughout the trailer there are many positive moments. However, I feel to improve the trailer there could be more moments of horror used in the trailer.LUKE: Looking at the trailer I do see many positives, but when I look more in depth at the trailer there are many areas that could be improved. For example, I feel that some audiences will struggle to understand the overall idea of the plot.GEORGE: I liked the overall idea of the film, however, I do feel that the audience will struggle to know who to feel sympathy towards during the trailer.

Towards the end of the creation of the trailer, opinions were suggested to improve the film further. For example, most of the audience suggested that the trailer lacked the idea of sympathy towards a character. In the trailer there were little parts where the watching audience would show sympathy towards a character. With that advice, myself, and my group made the changes to the three products. For example, we listened to our feedback and made the audience feel more sympathy towards the character. This meant that we had to make decisions to improve the three products. With this feedback I was able to make decisions and improve the trailer and other products. For this audience feedback I learned that to have a successful horror movie trailer you need to show the difference between the moral character and the immoral character. With these parts included in the horror movie trailer I was able to relate to a professional horror movie trailer and look at ways to further improve the trailer. For example, I thought that our horror movie lacked horror moments, therefore I showed to the rest of the group and others the trailer, everyone agreed. With this feedback, we as a group decided to add more horror moments to the trailer. From this feedback, I learned that a successful horror movie trailer will only succeed when there are many different horror moments.

QUESTION 3What have you learned from your audience

feedback?QUESTION – DOESTHE TITLE OF THE FILM CLASH WITH THE RECENT JAMES BOND FILM?

When finishing off the trailer, website and poster, our teacher thought that the product title was too similar to the recent James Bond film that was released last summer. With the teacher’s improvement in mind, we decided that we would gather other opinions of the film name and start to create a new name. The implications of changing the name meant that we would have to spend time making changes to all three products. This would take up time when it came to working on evaluation questions. With the feedback collected from the audience, our group decided to go with the audience feedback and change the name; this would help us from copyright issues and make the film stand out to a wide range audience.

QUESTION 3What have you learned from your audience

feedback?

With these changes to the title made, we then included the title into the trailer, website, and poster. From the feedback, our group thought that the decision made by us, and the opinion from our audience was correct. This was because we did not want to conflict to a classic film like James Bond. If people did Google our film then people would struggle to find the film because of the James Bond film. With the decision to change the name, the title of the film would stand out toe audiences and would mean that the film would not be compared to James Bond. From our audience feedback, we learned that when you create a horror movie you need to make the whole product your own. From the audience feedback, we also learned that you need to have no obvious links to other horror movie trailer because this would stand out to our target audience. As a group, we felt that we had produced a high quality product; we also felt that from our target audience we made the product better than it would have been without the opinions from them.

Overall, I am glad that I listen to the opinions that were given from my audience because they improved all three products and made them stand out even more. If I was to go back and make improvements then I would get ideas and opinions from people first, this is because I do not want to make the products worse. After the storyboard there was opinions given on how we could make the film better and stand out to an audience. For example, someone said that the film storyboard lacked quick cuts. With this feedback we were able to make a decision and improve our storyboard for the film.
