Media Front Cover Analysis

Page 2: Media front cover analysis 2

The masthead is in white to stand out from the pink colour of the background, also it is partly hidden behind the main image/cover star which shows that it isn’t the main focus of the front cover and that the cover star is more important.

The slogan is in plain normal black writing and says its ‘THE WORLDS BIGGEST DANCE MUSIC AND CLUBBING MAGAZINE’ it exaggerates to make people want to read it even more and it is in capitals to make it stand out even more.

The main image is of the artist ‘Solomun’ and he is dressed as though he has just woken up and is brushing his teeth, this gives the front cover a kind of edgy look.

The barcode is placed in the bottom corner and doesn’t stand out as it isn’t a vital part the house style or magazine front cover.

This incentive is used to draw the readers in and make them buy the magazine, it is put in a black rectangle and written in a pink text to make it stand out so people can see it clearly, it fits in with the house style as the colour scheme is quite bright and pink and bold.

This puff blends in with the main image as it is meant to be toothpaste coming out of the tube as the artist ‘Solomun’ is brushing his teeth, it matches the house style/colour scheme with the fact that the text is in black and white like the rest of the text and the puff is pink which also matches the colour scheme,

The date and price are in small text as the price is quite high so the creators of the magazine would want people to pick it up and go to buy it before realising the price, the date is also in small as it isn’t important.

These cover lines are in a white box in either black or pink writing to go with the house style of the magazine, they all refer to what features in the article to show the reader what else is included in the magazine.

The black rectangular boxes with white text in them act as sub-titles for the cover lines underneath and the cover lines differ from white to pink, the coverlines have information on the ‘stars of the year’

The masthead on this magazine is in larger writing than the rest and the name of the magazine is in white so it stands out and they have also incorporated the website address into it so that readers also visit the website.

The slogan exaggerates by saying it is “THE WORLDS ESSENTIAL CLUBBING MAGAZINE” by using the world essential it makes it seem as though you need this magazine if you are into clubbing.

This sub-title is to draw the people who will potentially buy the magazine to read the cover lines underneath so that they know what else is included into the magazine, they are in different colours which match the house style to give them variation and to stand out even more.

The main image is of the artist “Steve Angello” and it is a medium close-up of him looking directly into the camera, he’s one of the main features of this magazines issue.

These coverlines are in small text as they aren’t a main feature but they are in white so they stand out from the black back ground, they are there to give an example of some more of the artists who are included in the magazine.

The main cover line is in large, bold text to make it stand out as it is the main feature of this article, the colours yellow and blue and white are used all on the front cover it also matches the genre of music as it is bright and in two different fonts for the cover stars first and last name and the info underneath.

This is the aim of the magazine and what they want to do by producing their magazine by uniting clubbers around the world and getting them to join Tilllate online, they have used a moon puff as clubbing takes place at night so it relates to this.

The masthead is to the left of the cover star and is quite big and is in a red square on a white background so the white Q stands out even more. It is slightly covered by the circle shaped puff and the cover star.

The main image/cover star is a close-up of the artist ‘Adele’ and she is looking directly into the camera.

This puff is quite large and in gold so that it stands out from all the rest of the text as it is the only gold coloured thing on there, this shows that it is an important feature on the front cover, the text in black is to draw attention to the fact that it has ‘Paul McCartney’ on it so that potential readers will be interested.

These cover lines are in large bold writing in either black or red to fit the house style of the magazine, the text is quite normal and not leaning towards a specific genre as Q has many different genres in it.

The barcode is small and in the corner as it isn’t an important main feature of the front cover and isn’t essential for getting people to buy the magazine, also the price is in very small print in the barcode so that the price isn’t to visible.

The main cover line which is the name of the cover star ‘Adele’ is written over the image of her to show that this is who ‘Adele’ is and it is written in capitals in front of the image of her in white so that it is visible.

This is a quote of what ‘Adele’ has said and it is written in white text like the main cover line to link them and let the readers know that it is Adele who said this.
