Through the voice of college students, the magazine offers everything the audience everything they need to stay inspired, understand and appreciate the unique challenges of living in our region. The pages of the Yo* Magazine are filled with compelling profiles of exceptional members of the community, local music acts, theatre, celebrity natives’ memoirs of the city and some of the best photography of Youngstown. Our goal is to prove the diversity of the city is worth celebrating. Every street, person and building has a story to tell. Our Mission General Focus and Readership The Yo* Magazine is published twice a year, at the end of each fall and spring semester. Our readers look to the Yo* Magazine for a place to find more in-depth, edgier features that they would normally not find in the student newspaper. They look for new and fresh social events in the city as well as new musicians to listen to and theatre events to attend. Our style is bold, our style is edgy, and our style is a statement. The purpose of the Yo* is to go beyond the column inches of The Jambar. Our voice is that of a young adult audience that is in the stage just before a full- time career looking to keep having fun until there is no choice but to grow up. Even then, we still want to try to reach out to the full-time job audience and let them know it’s OK to work and play, too. Our circulation is that of The Jambar, approximately 5,500. Our readers include men and women, ages 18-25. We have a regional readership, but the majority of these readers are based in the Youngstown State University community. Copies of the Yo* Magazine are distributed on Youngstown State University’s campus on the Thursday of the last day of classes in each semester. This coincides with the graduation issue of The Jambar. Our hope is that every student will pick up both publications for keepsake.
