MEDIA LANGUAGE USED IN MAGAZINES

MASTHEAD The title or logo of the magazine. Usually a word or a phrase.

The masthead is mostly covered by the subject indicating that this is a well known magazine.This masthead is slightly longer, the subject is

covering some of it which means its well known. The bright red on white is eye catching.

The masthead is large and covers some of the subject. In addition to this, the colour is bright and attractive.

COVERLINESCoverlines are used to attract

the audience and sell the magazine. They are usually large in size, they usually

give an insight to the reader to the main contents of the

magazine.

ANCHORING PHOTOAnchoring photo

features the main subject of the magazine. It is typically a medium or close up shot. This is

the first thing the audience notices.

BARCODE AND PRICEA barcode is a machine-readable code in the form of numbers and a pattern of parallel lines of varying widths containing a specific data like price.
