Question two.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Page 2: media question 2

Alternative Representation.

• My music magazine presents an alternative representation of young people, within their social group. For example. Young people are praised in my magazine ‘Classique’ for their talent in music, and aren’t being represented as ‘drunk teenagers’, which is a stereotype people have given to young people today.

Talented Teenagers.

• Musicians, and music talents are being represented in my media product, a alternative representation to modern teenagers, which are stereotyped as ‘trouble makers’

The young people represented in my media product.

• Young people are being represented alternatively to the current stereotypes of young people, and in some way, challenging the

dominant ideology people have about young people.

Emergent ideology.

• The dominant ideology of teenagers today is that all young people seem to be lazy, up to no good, drinking far too much, and lacking respect to adults. However, in some respects it is becoming Emergent ideology that young people are actually talented, and have future plans, as seen in my media product, where young people are represented in a positive and alternative way, involving their talent.

Young peoples representation in my media product.

• The young people being represented in my media product are stereotyped as clever, and sophisticated musicians. Their socio-economic class on the Jicnars scale would be A-B-C and a few C1’s and C2’s, showing their high class, and their lifestyle being supported buy money.
