How I’ve Established The PlotTo show the plot of the film and to get the theme across we added
tension into the film right before the credits came on by showing Joel walking towards Georgia with a knife indicating he was about to murder her. Which he then goes on a does which the audience
see before all the credits have finished. This gets the plot/genre across really quick to the audience so they understand the theme
of the film and also mainly Joel’s character. Also there are some linear and non linear elements, the whole film
is linear until it goers to the flashback of Joel taking Georgia’s letters previous days ago. After that flashback the rest of the 2
minutes is linear throughout and continues on. This is similar to Kiss The Girls as the beginning of that film action is already
happening involving someone who has been killed which is similar to the start of our film.
Both screenshot represent linear and non linear.
Genre.. The film throughout looks like the
chosen genre (thriller) as at the beginning of the film we show in Joel’s house some photos of Georgia and a time schedule which indicates he has an obsession with her. The shot of the knives and the passport show it is a Thriller as it shows Joel is an aggressive man who is a murderer also the passports indicate he’s got them for a quick escape. It also looks like thriller when Joel is approaching Georgia with the knife, indicating he is about to murder her. This links to Kiss The Girls which were using as our similar film as the male is the murderer of a bunch of girls locally.
Camera.. The canted angle which is also an high
angle shot shows Joel holding a bloody knife after murdering Georgia, this shows the situation is dangerous and out of the norm, the high angle shots represents Joel’s dominance over Georgia and also Joel’s character throughout the film.
The other shots used are low angle shot when Georgia has been murdered to show Georgia was weak.
Also used close ups for example of Georgia’s face when she turns round to look at Joel when he is approaching her to show her facial expression of what emotion she was feeling at the time she saw Joel approaching her with the knife.
Similar to the low angle shot in Kiss The Girls when a women tries to escape shows she is weaker.
Typography & Iconography The typography in our film is done in the
way title is in capitals to make it appear bold and important to our audience and to let them know our film name. The background of the film title is black and the font colour is white which contrast. It also shows the film stats of a light happy film which is the white font, which soon turns dark and sinister which is the black background.
Iconography in the film are things such as the knives this shows the theme of the film is thriller and will most likely be multiple murders throughout. The poster of the murdered girls also shows it is a crime/thriller film and also as Megan looks at it the audience get an idea she could possibly be next.
The bottom image is from Kiss The Girls this iconography the knife dropping indicates the genre is thriller.
Sound.. We use both non diagetic and
diagetic sounds in the film. The diagetic sounds are simple things such as the wind when Joel is walking to Georgia’s house. Also when Joel knocks on the door. These sounds are real sounds which give the film a sense of reality.
Also non diagetic sounds in the film are the music used to build tension that comes on over the top of the film such as when there is a flashback the music is put on to show a different time period but also that something isn’t right. Also when Joel is approaching Georgia to kill her non diagetic sound comes on to add tension and to also show the situation isn’t normal and is dangerous.

Mise-en-scene The costumes worn by the characters in the
film are basic and simple but show that they’re shown to be normal characters and normal people which could also show that this could happen to anyone.
The props are knives which connote the genre (thriller) other props are things such as photos of Georgia and passports which show Joel is a criminal and has an obsession with Georgia. The props are similar in Kiss The Girls there is often images of knives shown.
The location of the film is set in a normal neibourhood, on the streets and in a house, this gives the audience the idea that this could happen to anyone and no one is safe also the fact it is filmed in the day subverts stereotype of murders happening on a night and can happen whenever.
In Kiss The Girls the film is set in 2 different locations often in a normal environment e.g. house, streets and public buildings, however the other parts are set in a wood area and what appears to be a cave.
