MEDIA QUESTIONNAIREBy Ryan Brown

PRINT MEDIAI occasionally read the newspaper depending if there is one in the bathroom or not when I’m on the loo. I read the mercury a lot because it has local news which interests me especially the local sport news which normally consists of football and cricket. I also get new updates from the internet and social media because it is an easier way to see things and it is used in everyone’s lives on a daily basis.

RADIO MEDIAI normally listen to radio 1 in the evenings for Zane Lowe and Daniel P Carter’s show because they play the new and upcoming music which I am into and it means I can listen to new bands and see which new albums are coming out, also with new song premieres as well. I also listen to Kerrang! because it is a good source of metal and rock music with funny presenters which make it better to listen to.

MUSIC INDUSTRYMy favourite genres of music are metal, rock, screamo, death metal and anything that is really a sub-genre of metal. I don’t belong to a band but I would like to produce or help produce music for a band. I think illegal download is okay for people to do because it allows the people who do it the chance for them to spread the word about up and coming artists and they make a name for themselves, but I do think that buying and supporting the artist/band should be compulsory because it is essential that the artist gets recognised for putting the hours of work in and getting rewarded for it. That’s why I always buy a hard copy of an album in either CD form or as a vinyl. The music industry influences how I act and dress because what I normally wear is a band t-shirt and shorts or jeans which is normally worn at a festival or gig. Music is everything to me.

VIDEO GAMESI don’t have a favourite video game because I don’t play them enough to have one. Games like Call of Duty have a negative impact on the world because it is based on war and shows a mythological way that it can be interpreted which is bad on the young people health of the world.

SOCIAL NETWORKINGThe pros of social media is that you can talk and communicate with people all over the world for free and it is a good way to see how people are coping in the world. It shouldn’t be for spamming with selfies and moaning, it should be a happy and spiritual place to chat with mates.

TELEVISION My favourite TV channels are anything with comedy shows on or sky sports channels. My favourite TV genre is comedy because I like to laugh. My two favourite TV shows are scarred which is a show where people post in videos of them breaking and snapping their bones in ridiculous ways that aren’t even meant to be possible; and any sport show because I live for sport.

FEATURE FILMSMy favourite film genre is comedy because I like to laugh. Three films I think are outstanding are hot fuzz, anything else that is a comedy or romcom, and also marvel films. I normally go to the cinema to watch films, I do watch some films at home. My favourite cinema is probably Odeon. I like to watch films in a group at the cinema but don’t mind watching films at home on my own.

ARE YOU A MEDIA PRODUCER?I used to work as a part of a radio station called future radio. I used to read out the local charities list for every show.

WHY HAVE I CHOSEN MEDIA?I have chosen media studies as an option because I like media, music and films and wanted to create my own.

CONCLUSIONI don’t really get offended by media articles because they don’t seem to be that bad. I don’t really find many media articles interesting either. Songs are the only thing that change the way I think about the world because they all have a meaning to the artists and we all listen to them and can interpret them in different ways to mean something to us. If I had the chance to construct a music video I would make the message something really meaningful that would display the way my life has been changed by music and how it has helped me through so much in the last 5 years with school, relationships and deaths.
