CHURCH HISTORY Christ Community Baptist Church began in 1986
in Puyallup, WA. Based on a demographic study
by our North American Baptist, Pacific Northwest
Association determined that the area of South
Hill in Puyallup was ripe for a new church to be
planted.
Families from Tacoma Calvary Baptist met for
prayer, Bible studies and going door-to-door in
this demographic study.
In December of that same, year Pastor Gordon
Bauslaugh was called to be the planter/pastor of
this project.
SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THOSE THIRTY YEARS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
*1987— First public worship services were held *1988— Purchased nearly five acres of land on 176th Street *1992— Building Fund Goal, “Team Your Mite with His Might”, raising $90,000 *1992— Ground breaking for a 13,000 sq. foot church facility (included 2 modular buildings) *1995— First Sunday in new church building, July 30 *2000— Planted a new church called “The Gathering:” with 20% of our congregation *2004— Began three year “Experience Faith Project” campaign raising $428,300 *2007— P.J. Tangedahl is added to the ministry staff as Pastor of Worship *2008— Final payment on mortgage of church building *2014— Permission for the use of our new facility parking lot granted by the county *2015— Survey taken within the congregation confirming our need for the facility expansion. Moving forward with possible future building project to meet our space needs. *2015— Maxed our building. Needed to expand our facilities to continue “Building Upon Our Vision” *2016— John Golling transitions to Youth and Trustee Pastor
Started by Church Planters, Gordon and Sandy Bauslaugh, CCBC has grown and been blessed by God to continue to this day. In just over 29 years of CCBC, we have interviewed 886 individuals for church membership. One third of these were also baptized at CCBC. Yearly we remove individuals who have either moved away or chosen to not to continue to worship at CCBC, and so we keep an accurate membership. Page 2

Pastor PJ Tangedahl joined the staff of CCBC in 2007. He holds a Master of
Divinity degree from North American Baptist Seminary. He and his wife Mandy have two
children, Anna and Zack.
Pastor John Golling joined the staff of CCBC in 2000. John is graduate of Multnomah University
and Multnomah Seminary (Master of Divinity), has a Certificate in Biblical Counseling. He has done
doctoral studies in Pastoral Ministry at Corban University. He and his wife, Sandra, have two
children, Becky and Megan.
Melissa Amberg & Tami Lindgren joined the staff of CCBC in 2016 as our two, part-time
Ministry Assistants in a job share. Melissa is married to Steve, and together they have two
children. They have been members at CCBC since 2003. Tami is married to John, and
together they have four children and one grandchild. They have been members since 2013.
Helen Lucas joined the staff of CCBC in 2015 as Children’s Ministry Director. She is a graduate of
Pacific Lutheran University with both a BA and Masters in Education and Mathematics. Helen is
married to Skeeter and together they have three children and four grandchildren.

Estimated funds needed at the start of the 20/20 Campaign: $600,000 Funds Pledged: $613,019 Estimate to complete project as of Oct. 2018: $750,000 Funds collected as of April 2019: $422,990 Difference in amount from pledges: ($136,981)
Current Status update: Along with regular giving to the building fund, a Building
Committee meets regularly to move forward with construction. Architect plans are in, we
have selected our contractor and are currently waiting finalization of county approval to
begin construction.

Our facilities are maxed out and we need to do the following: • Provide more educational-disciple making rooms for children and LIFE groups • Provide a versatile, multiple use room for gatherings such as small weddings,
baby showers, smaller memorial services, LIFE group gatherings, etc. • Provide smaller rooms for children’s classes and LIFE Groups • Develop a full/kitchen • Add more restrooms
THE URGENCY OF MEETING THESE NEEDS • In order to accommodate more people on Wednesdays and Sundays we need more space • County parking regulations have now been met • LIFE Groups are a key to our DNA of Disciples “making disciple makers” of all ages. We need more

Qualifications:
Lead Pastor must be a church member in excellent standing, having demonstrated
application of the Scriptures and personifying the standards found in First Timothy 3:1-7,
Titus 1:6-9 and First Peter 5:2-4.
1. Timothy 3:1-7, “1 Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a
noble task. 2 Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate,
self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not given to drunkenness, not violent
but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4 He must manage his own family well and
see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect. 5 (If any-

2. Titus 1:6-9, “6 An elder must be blameless, faithful to his wife, a man whose children believe
and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient. 7 Since an overseer manages
God’s household, he must be blameless—not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to
drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. 8 Rather, he must be hospitable, one
who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined. 9 He must hold
firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by
sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.”
3. 1 Peter 5:2-4, “2 Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over
them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not
pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; 3 not lording it over those entrusted to you, but
being examples to the flock. 4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the
crown of glory that will never fade away.”
He must be in agreement with the NAB Code of Ethics. A believer in and teacher of the
faith as embodied in the Scriptures and in agreement with the church’s Statement of Faith.
