Textual Analysis

The image itself draws the audience in by using a recognisable celebrity this makes the audience want to read the article about the celebrity and helps them know what the magazine will with hold. Another thing that pulls in the audiences attention in is the way the celebrity is looking straight ahead this makes the audience feel like there looking at them and pulling them in towards the magazine. They have also dressed her to go with the magazine cover this helps to create a more over all professional look to it . The magazine has stuck to a colour scheme of blue ,black , white and red , this creates a more mature and professional looking magazine cover and also ties the magazine together .

The title to this magazine is displayed behind the main image this is to give more room for the main image and side stories this makes the magazine look more interesting and eye catching to the audience. The reason that the magazine gets away with this is because it’s a popular well known name and magazine this means that the mass head has done its job by making the corporate identity recognizable to the audience .

NME has used pictures of multiple well know celebrities to catch the attention of its viewers the images them selves have been grouped together to create a fuller and more playful feel on the cover , another effective thing the magazine did was make sure all the celebrities are wearing the same colour this helps the grouped photos look for like a photo taken in a group. They used multiple poses to the most effective for example are the muses pose where he is using his award to point out at the audience this makes them feel compelled to buy the magazine and make them feel as like the celebrity wants them to read another pose that does this effectively is where they are looking right out to the audience and making a connection to draw the audience in towards the magazine le to celebrities messing round help to make the magazine look more playful therefore more relatable to the audience.

The mass head is placed behind the image this makes more room for the image but the heading is still comprehensible to the audience but even if the mass head was not fully in view and one of the letters was cut off it would still be understandable to most people because the corporate identity is well known. The text is written in different font andsizeing to create a wider range of verity within the cover and to give a over all more playful and fun look , although they haven't used more than two types of font because using to wide a range can cause the magazine cover to become un professional. The magazine cover also shows snap shot photos of what the magazine will withhold this makes the viewer more interested and help them have a better idea if the magazine is right for them.

• This double page spread has stuck to a more simplistic and textual look by having one side of the page consisting of a image and the other text the colours used are white black and red this gives one main draw colour that has been used in the unusual way of covering the entire text with a capital letter L but allowing it to be more transparent so the text can still be seen through the letter. The image is of a celebrity in black and white sticking to the main colours again , the image is a mid shot which allows the audience to see clearly who it is and still see what she is wearing wich seems to be nothing other then a chain, this gives the shot a sexy feel creating a draw in for the audience. The image also is a glamour's shot compared to resent shots of her this makes the audience intrigued because it is different and new the lighting looks as if its coming from on top of her illuminating her structure and allowing her features to be shadowed hardening them.

• This double page spread uses the main three colours of black blue and white this creates a professional look they have also used coloured boxes to section writing and help it stand out to the audience. The images used are displayed in multiple different sizes such as the image that take up one page entirely and the side images displayed within the texts to show what the text will be talking about.
