Rationale for FIWARE Media&Content Lab

1. Phase 3 projects need a centralized source of technical and legal information about FIcontent’s Specific Enablers

2. Phase 3 projects need vivid demos of Specific Enablers in order to understand the capabilities of technologies

3. Developers need a place where they can start testing Specific Enablers very quickly and with little barriers

4. Developers need a toolbox for installing and running Specific Enablers with respect to their products

Value Proposition ofFIWARE Media&Content Lab

FIC2Lab is a…portal that showcases demo source code and lets the user ‘play around‘ with it.…browser-based playground that exposes the main use case of each Specific Enabler in at least one example.…creative pool of experimental usages of the Specific Enablers for developers.

FIC2Lab is not…a portal that can be used for the creation or maintenance of production-quality applications.FIWARE sustainability workshop19 May 2015 | Brussels

When will FIWARE Media&Content Lab be available?

Due to FIWARE migration release has been postponed from initial End of April date

Unfortunately IDM functions used for FIC2Lab have been (temporarily) discontinued

Alpha test with Accelerators will start soonInitially a limited number of users (2-3 / accelerator)Increase based on feed back of developpers

V1 by end May

Ideas are being developed for a V2Bundles of enablersIncreased computing and network resourcesImproved navigationImproved enabler examples and documentation.

Due to discontinuation (or delay in provision) of

critical functions of IDM. FIC2Lab runner is currently

out of order.

Expected links to the future FIWARE open source community and foundation

As most of the enablers on FIC2Lab are open source FIC2 is willing to participate to any initiative in this area.

However we would consider a pragmatic approachLet’s start with a common catalogueLet’s define common support proceduresLet’s understand how to address remaining technical issues and define ways for collaborating for resolving them
