Job Description• Aid doctors in treating diseases.• Aid doctors in diagnosing diseases.• Test body samples Ex: blood test, urine sample, etc.• 85% of medical decisions are based on these results.• Technologists supervise labs and technicians.• Technologists analyze and convey data.
Typical Day1. Check message and inspect lab equipment.2. Set up specimens and wet mounts/test.3. Speak with other health care professionals/monitor
technicians.4. Examine grams and wet mounts and record data.5. Work out problems that are occurring. Ex: Technicians,
computers, etc.6. Do semen and pregnancy analyses.
Skills Needed• How to use lab equipment. Ex: microscopes, chemical
analyzers, etc.• You need to be able to work independently.• Need to be flexible.• Responsible• Careful and patient• Be knowledgeable in biology and chemistry.
Working Conditions• Hospitals, doctor’s offices, and pharmaceutical firms.• Wear safety gear.• Infections are present in workplace. • Take safety precautions.
