We have named our driveway, which is
the main entrance into the College,
Fr Bernie Gallagher Way in honour of
Fr Bernie who was the Parish Priest of
St Mary’s Parish for 20 years, and was
associated with the Parish for 25 years.
He, along with the Parishioners and
Community of St Mary’s, advocated for
a Catholic secondary college to be
built in Beaudesert for the students of
the Scenic Rim. Fr Bernie has humbly
accepted this honour and wishes the
College every success.
This road will bring all staff, students,
parents and visitors to our College.
Greetings everyone,
I hope this final newsletter for the year finds you and your family well. I am
currently enjoying a little getaway with my family to celebrate my mum's 70th
birthday. She is an inspirational lady and I hope to have half her energy and
"get up and go" when I reach 70! Happy Birthday Mum!
Of course, at any birthday, it is important to make the special person the focus.
I was reminded last week when reading my parish newsletter that Christmas is
the time of year that marks Jesus' birthday. We should not forget to invite him in
to our celebrations and ensure he continues to be the reason for this holy
season.
It is also a time to be grateful for the love of our family and friends. And so, I pray
you stay safe and enjoy your family celebrations. We had much to be grateful
for in the office this year, and whilst we indulged in the sharing of gifts, it was
really the appreciation of the gift of each person who has joined the McAuley
College family and worked hard in preparation for our inaugural students and
their families. Thank you, Michael, David, Deirdre, Gayle and Melanie!
A reminder to families that the College office will be closed from Monday 19
December 2016 and will reopen on Tuesday 3 January 2017.
