Coach Huff has spent seven seasons as an assitant coach between the men's and women's teams, and has been a member of 3 MVC, 1 district, and 1 state coaching staff of the year. He has worked with swimmers who have earned 2 state titles and 7 All-America honors. Coach Huff's JV swimmers have won a combined 5 city titles and his 2015 men's team won the Patrick Karamitros JV Invitational. The men's and women's JV teams are a combined 27-8 in the past two years. Away from the pool, Jesse is a 2007 graduate of Dubuque Senior High School and a 2011 graduate of the University of Notre Dame. In addition to coaching, Jesse is also a World and US History teacher at Senior. Assistant Coach Cindy Paintner Assistant Coach Cindy Paintner enters her first season as an assistant coach of the Lady RAMS. She is a graduate of Lake City High School and attended Morningside College. Recently, she completed her Masters of Teaching in Special Education. Meet the Coaches

Head Coach Jesse Huff

Coach Wren is heading into his 34th year of coaching swimming and diving. He’s a graduate of Cedar Rapids Jefferson and attended Southwest State University in Marshall, MN. During his coaching career he has coached numerous All-State Swimmers & Divers and has coached twenty three All-American Swimmers & Divers. He has coached at all three high schools in Dubuque as well as Loras College. During the past thirty years he has been MVC Coach of the Year ten times, District coach of the Year eight times and the Girls State Coach of the Year in 1989. He served as President of the Iowa High School Swim Coaches Association from 1991-2001 and was the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association Rules Chairperson for four years. Coach Wren has been inducted into the Iowa High School Swim Coach’s Hall of Fame.

Seniors

Meet the Swimmers

Daughter of Clete and Annette Brehm and Diane and Dale Heiken. Naomi returns for her 2nd year on the team; she has also played two years of volleyball and three years of tennis. Naomi is a TrigStar city champ and a member of NHS. She stays busy with many school clubs and activities including Key Club (treasurer), Hyperstream, Math Club, Mock Trial, and band. “My goal for the season is to drop time. I haven’t selected a college but I’ll probably major in actuarial science and then become an actuary and make bank.”

Daughter of Randy and Mimi Vaassen. Molly is entering her second season of Senior swimming; she was also a cheerleader for two years. She counts making it to senior year as an academic accomplishment. Molly was a state alternate last year and is also a boys swimming manager. “My goal for the season is to individually qualify for state and get my fastest times. I haven’t picked a college, but I plan on swimming. I plan to major in business or marketing. ‘You can’t put a limit on anything. The more you dream, the farther you get.’-Michael Phelps”

Molly Johannsen

Daughter of Jim and Maggie Leitner. Gabby is a four year member of the Lady RAMS swim team. While at Senior she has also played golf and been a member of the Jumbovision Experience. She carries a 3.667 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society. “For this season, I hope to drop time in all of my events. After high school, I plan on attending the University of Northern Iowa to study E-Media. After that, I hope to get a job with a TV network or movie studio or work at a baseball of football stadium with Jumbotron equipment. The past years on the Senior Swim Team have been great and I’m excited for my last season.”

Alice Tsui

Daughter of Hua Mao Tsui and Ling Yuan. Alice has been on the swim team all four years of high school; she has also played tennis for the RAMS. She currently ranks first in her class and is on Red Renaissance. Alice is a member of many clubs at Senior including Key Club (LTG), Model UN (secretary), Mock Trial, NHS, Hyperstream, and Math Club. “My goals for the season are to swim at least 3 events at state, qualify for ne or two individual events, drop time, and break records!! My college choice is anywhere that accepts me and my future plans are not to live in a box. A word of advice to all the underclassmen is to watch out for curbs.”

Daughter of Jerry and Mary Willer. Jenna is entering her fourth year on the swim team where she is a 3-time state qualifier and holds 1 individual and 2 relay school records. Jenna has also participated in 3 years of softball and three years of basketball and went to state with the basketball team last year. She is on high honor roll, a member of NHS, President of FBLA, Vice President of Partners Club, and involved in Environmental Club. “My goals for this season are to podium at state and break records. Right now I am undecided on college, but am swimming and want to pursue occupational therapy. My advice for underclassmen is to enjoy high school while it lasts, it flies by. Also, don’t be afraid to push yourself and reach for high goals! If your goal doesn’t scare you, it isn’t big enough.”

Juniors Addy Arthofer Daughter of Jerry and Kristie Arthofer. Addy returns for her third year on the swim team; she has also played two years of soccer and one of tennis. Addy is on renaissance, takes honors and AP courses and hopes to be selected to NHS this year. Her goals for the season are to swim fast (cause who wouldn’t want to do that) and not die!

Brianna Gourley Daughter of Julia Gourley. Brianna is a three year swimmer; she has also played tennis for Senior. She carries a GPA above 3.5. Her goal for the season is to drop a second in her 50 Free so she can get down to a 27.

Frances Inzenhofer Daughter of Johannes Inzenhofer and Sheila O’Laughlin. Frances is entering her 3rd year of swimming where she is a 2 year letter winner and state qualifier. She has also played soccer (minor D) and run track. She is on Red Renaissance and is fluent in German. Her goal for the season is to qualify for state as an individual.

Camryn Leeser Daughter of Bill Leeser and Danielle Peterson. CamBam is returning for her third year as a varsity swimmer on the team. She is also a member of Renaissance. Her goal for the season is to get her best time in the 100 Breaststroke.

Quinn Nelson Daughter of Greg Nelson and Sarah Conlon. Quinn begins her third year as a varsity swimmer; she has also participated in one year each of track and tennis. She has earned two academic Major D’s and speaks Spanish. Her goals for the season are to improve her times in the 200 IM, 100 Breaststroke, and 50 Free and to go to state.

Dariya Piontkovskaya Daughter of Danil Piontkovskiy and Olga Piontkovskaya. Dariya returns for her second season swimming with the Lady RAMS. She has also played soccer at Senior. She plans to attend the University of Dubuque. Her goal for the season is to increase her speed and beat her time for the Free.

Emma Sass Daughter of Steve and Kendell Sass. Emma begins her third year on the team; she is a Major D winner and state qualifier. She has also earned a Major D and qualified for Drake and State in track. She carries a GPA above 4.0 and is a member of the Jazz Choir. Her goals for the season are to break the 100 Backstroke record, make Grace Tsui smile, have a positive attitude, and give God the glory with every swim – win or lose

Ellie Shearer Daughter of Peter Shearer and Erin Kennedy. Ellie is a third year diver on the team. She has also participated in soccer and cheer while at Senior. She is a member of Renaissance. Her goals for the season are to make it to state, to get Bob to compliment her, and to wear a fishy swim cap.

Sophomores

Grace Tsui Daughter of Hua Mao Tsui and Ling Yuan. Grace is entering her third year of Lady RAMS swimming; she has also played one year each of tennis and track. She is first in her class, a member of Red Renaissance, and received the Outstanding Position Paper award for Model UN. Her goal for the season is to drop time.

Abigail Barnes Daughter of Brad and Lisa Barnes. Abi returns for her second year on the swim team; she has also played tennis in high school. She is a member of the Honor Roll. Abi’s goal for the season is to improve her swimming times.

Rebecca Warren Daughter of Scott and Jennifer Warren. Rebecca is beginning her first year on the Senior swim team, though she has swum for 8 years. She has also participated in track. She is a member of the student senate and Club Hope. Her goal for the season is to do better than when she started.

Samantha Erickson Daughter of Kerry and Stacey Erickson. Sam begins her 1st season swimming for Senior after swimming at Wahlert last year where she also bowled. She has received straight A’s and carries above a 4.0 GPA. Her goal for the season is to beat her times from last year.

Katie Gorton Daughter of Greg and Kris Gorton. Katie is entering her second year on the Lady RAMS swim team. Her goal for the season is to beat her old times.

Ashley Heiderscheit Daughter of Mark Heiderscheit and Rose Clancy. Ashley is a second year member of the team; she also plays soccer for Senior. Her goal for the season is to improve her Breaststroke time.

Hannah Hoerner Daughter of Rick and Sandy Hoerner. Hannah is entering her second year as a diver for the Lady RAMS; she is also a cheerleader at Senior. She is a member of Renaissance and Spanish Club. Her goals for the season are to podium at the MVC Soph Meet and to not have any incomplete dives.

Jaycie Peter Daughter of Scott Peter and Jill Meloy. Jaycie returns for her second year on the team; she also plays tennis for the RAMS, earning a minor D. She is a member of Renaissance and carries a 3.8 GPA. Her goals for the season are to beat all her times, taper for regionals, and grow closer and cheer on her teammates. (:

Freshmen

Rachel Tebon Daughter of Carl and Brenda Tebon. Rachel begins her first year of Lady RAMS swimming; she ran cross country and track and swam in middle school. She is a member of Renaissance and gets straight A’s. Her goal for the season is to beat all of her times.

Grace Pope Daughter of Tim and Joyce Pope. Grace is entering her first season with the team; she also plays basketball. She carries a 4.0 GPA and received the Presidential Award. Her goal for the season is to get the 100 Breaststroke 13-14 Q time.

Maddi Lyons Daughter of Dawn Chase. Maddi is beginning her first year on the Lady RAMS team having participated in swimming and volleyball in middle school. Her goal is to get better times.

Payal Vedanayagam Daughter of Munisamy and Mani Vedanayagam. Payal is a new swimmer this season. She has also participated in soccer and tennis. She hopes to one day study at UCLA or the University of Michigan. Her goal for the season is to drop time.

Sydney Smith Daughter of Rob and Kelly Smith. Sydney is a new team member this year, though she has been a member of DASH for 4 years. She also runs track and is a member of Renaissance. Her goal for the season is to beat her times.

Trisha Tigges Daughter of Rob and Teresa Tigges. Trisha is a new swimmer this season; she plans to play tennis in the spring. She carries a 3.7 GPA. Her goal for the season is to get to know everyone on the team.

Kaley Snyder Daughter of Leo and Brigit Heim. Kaley returns for her second year on the team. Her goals for the season are to finish in 5th place for one of her races and to do better than last year.

Julia Stierman Daughter of Kurt and Rena Stierman. Julia is a two year member of the swim team; she has also played tennis at Senior. She is still working on academic achievements. Her goal is to be as fly as Drake (her brother).

Paige Willer Daughter of Jerry and Mary Willer. This is Paige’s first year on the team. Her goal for the season is to improve her strokes.

Hannah Trimble Daughter of Jerry and Laura Trimble. Hannah is a first year diver on the team. She is on Honor Roll and gets straight A’s. Her goals for the season are to get Bob to wear a swim cap and get her reverse summies.
