You can help your child by -
• Reading with them every night and asking them questions about what they have read.
• Practise number facts and times tables.
• There are many grammar and punctuation games online.
Reading & Optional
Homework• Please read with your child every night and encourage them to change their book
at school when they have finished.
• Each half term children will be given a homework grid, like in Year 1. Children can complete 1 activity each week, in what ever order you wish.
• Children should bring their homework in every Thursday.
• Children will also be given spellings and timetables in preparation for their end of year tests but this will not be straight away.
Year 2 Routines
• 8.40 – 9am Staggered soft start– children to come straight into class where activities will be laid out ready
• Doors shut at 9am
• 3pm – 3:20pm staggered home time
Games/P.E
• Children to wear their PE kit to school on a PE day.
• Year 2’s PE day is Friday.
• PE kit: White T-Shirts and Black shorts with either plimsolls or trainers. In the winter tracksuit bottoms and a jumper.
Snacks
• Fruit or Veg is available for children to have at break time.
Attendance and Punctuality
• It is vital that the children are in school every day,
before 9am.
If a child misses 15 minutes every day, in a week that is 75
minutes of learning missed a week.
• Our attendance needs to be over 95% per class and
this includes being punctual to school.
