11. Grand Knight’s Report (GK Bill Barry):
Worthy Brothers All,
On July 12th and 13th, the Worthy Deputy Grand Knight Sonny Butler, Worthy District Master Dave
Onofrio, Worthy District Marshal Rick Lewis and I all attended the 2013 Organizational Meeting in
Raleigh. The meeting was very informative and we had the opportunities to speak with the State
Program directors.
Our council received the NC State Council 2012-2013 Semi Annual Top Program Award for
Membership in Division 4. Thank you to our Worthy Membership Director Bruce Meyer for your
efforts last year as membership director.
We will be voting on our budget tonight and have our major events calendar pretty well established.
Name Badges. They are a great tool for increased communications within our council. By wearing your
council name badge, members may recognize a brother knight and ask for information in regards to
council activities. Please wear your council name badge to all church Masses and functions. If you
have not received your name badge, please see our Financial Secretary.
Tomorrow, Wednesday August 14th our council is hosting a second degree. Any first degree brothers
present who has not let me know already that you will be making your second degree, there is still
time to sign up tonight. Please see me after the meeting. All second, third and fourth degree brothers
present, I encourage you to attend the second degree tomorrow to support our first degree brothers as
they take the next step to full knighthood. I want to thank Rob Phillips and Jim O’Donnell for calling
some of the 1st degree brothers to request them to make their 2nd degree. Light refreshments will be
available after the degree.
Back in 2009 our council gave the Life Memorial Stone to St. Bernadette’s. Last month the Life
Memorial Stone helped a young couple from our parish who found that they were pregnant to make
the right decision. The wife of one of our brother knights sent this beautiful true story.
Today when visiting at church, I spoke with a parishioner. She asked me to give her thanks to those
responsible for the Life Memorial. She said she knew a young couple (19-years old) who found that
they were pregnant. They knew that abortion was wrong, but they were still considering it as an
option. The young man came to the church to meet with this parishioner. He saw our Life Memorial
outside the Learning Center. He paused then went in to meet her. He told her that the Memorial gave
him his answer. He went home and brought his girlfriend to see the Memorial. They made the decision
to keep their baby. Their baby is due to be born in October.

12. Chaplain’s Report (GK Bill Barry for Fr. Robert Staley):
Dear Brother Knights and friends in Christ,
Thank you for having given me the honor of serving as your Council Chaplin. I hope the council will
continue to flourish and grow. You have a great group of officers, directors, and members. As you
move forward, please continue to remember to put prayer first. The Knights are not just another
community group. We are rooted in faith.
May God continue to richly bless Council 12119,
Father Robert

25. District Deputy’s Report (DD Tom Eifler):
Worthy Grand Knight, Brothers, I bring you greetings from our Supreme Knight Carl Anderson, from
the Board of Directors of the K of C and our worthy State Deputy Greg Murray. First let me welcome
Thomas to Council 12119 here in Fuquay and I encourage you to continue to attend meetings and get
involved. We really were blessed to have Fr. Robert as our Chaplain and for him to show up at as
many meetings as he did was just phenomenal. Perhaps we’ll have to have an outing to go visit him.
The District Meeting was held this past Saturday and you were well represented by GK Bill Barry and
DGK Sonny Butler. The purpose of the meeting was to get together for discussion and share ideas. As
mentioned earlier, there is a 2nd degree tomorrow night here, beginning at 7:30pm as well as both 1st
and 2nd degrees in Cary on Monday, September 23rd. Upcoming state events: State golf tournament on
the weekend of October 5th & 6th in Fayetteville – cost is $125/golfer; State Bocce tournament on

September 7th. The icon of Our Lady of Guadalupe will be coming to our District during the month of
September with a goal of having it be at all parishes in the District. Reminder that, if participating in
the Soccer Challenge, the kit should be ordered by August 20th. Just a note that yesterday was Fr.
McGivney’s birthday. Let me close by saying that I appreciate the opportunity to be your District
Deputy, I’m starting my 3rd year and my goal is to do 4 years and it’s been a great job thus far, I
appreciate your hospitality and look forward to seeing you at many more meetings.
Vivat Jesus

Family of the Month (July): Bro. Dave Dillman
Brother and Sir Knight David Dillman and his grandson are recognized as the Family of the Month for
the time they spent helping other brother knights to erect a fallen tree in a brother’s knight yard.
Without David and his grandson coming with their 4 wheel drive vehicle and pull the tree up, the
other brothers that were helping would not be able to lift the tree.
Family of the Month (August): Bro. Al Munno and wife Pat
