Megan
A Welsh diminutive of Margaret.Derived from Latin Margarita. From Greek μαργαριτης meaning pearl.
How first name was selected
My first name was just selected because my parents liked it. There really isn’t any meaning to it, I was not named after anybody.
Googlegangers pt. 1
Megan Myers died on September 26, 2007 at the age of 14 from sudden cardiac arrest.
Do you feel a person’s name shapes his/her identity? Do you feel we use names to label or prejudge a
person?
No, a name is just a way to classify a person. It doesn’t truly shape their identity in a way to affect their personality.
Yes, we do use names to label people. We do this depending on the sounding origin or ethnicity of a person’s name.
Do you think our culture is “name obsessed?”
Of course. If we are going to be called a name for the rest of our lives, we would want to pick great ones for our sons/daughters. Or even anything needed to be named like pets or dolls and such. It is so simple to find names on the internet and even baby books.
Future Children
Anderson- Wes Anderson is my favorite director of all time. Also, the name sounds quite classy for a boy.
Clementine- From a character in a movie called Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Clementine was a lovely girl.
Freakonomics?
My own name, Megan, does kind of support some data in the Freakonomics article. My name is one of the top 10 most popular white girl names and it is one of the top 10 most common middle-income white girl names. But on the other hand my name doesn’t really matter much on predicting my background, it just happened by my parent’s chance.
