Basemap: Q1: I chose the light grey canvas map because I think its light background will make it easier for layers to show up. Q2: The highest income group is more than $82,000 and the lowest is $24,000 or less. Q3: The trolley line seems to traverse the lowest income areas of the city. This could be because lower income people rely more on public transportation, or/and because suburban areas are more likely to be populated by people earning higher incomes, while downtown areas tend to support low income and subsidized housing as well as smaller living spaces like apartments. Q4: The green trolley line runs parallel to the fault line. Q5: This is the Newport-Inglewood Rose Canyon fault zone. Q6: The map I selected is for mean annual temperatures and the App I selected is the ArcGIS Android App. I like that the maps show the big picture when looking at things on a global level but you have to select what theme or layer you want to look at one map at a time. The App lets you navigate quicker through different layers of a specific area.

Q1: I chose the light grey canvas map because I think its light background will make it easier for layers to show up.

Q7: When using a map, you can add or subtract layers and have the ability to modify any map. With a Web App the map is already created. You can still maneuver through it and learn more about specific layers, but the ability to add to it is lost. I think if I were to publish or display a map I would use a Web App because it displays the information I’ve pre-chosen to relay.

Q8: This map is of the Salt Lake Area and shows the proximity of fault lines to major roads and hospitals. I used a hospital location layer, USA faults layer, and OpenStreetMap for my baselayer.

Q9: For my Web App I chose the Legend application because I like its clean layout. I think in summary this map shows that if an earthquake were to hit the Salt Lake area it could be incredibly devastating due to the fact that the fault lines traverse many of our major roads and run through a large cluster of the areas hospital facilities.
