Port Blair, July 4 The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has allocated 47.5 MWp capacity of Solar Power Plants at various locations in A & N Islands under the programme- 'Greening of the Islands' . As a partial fulfillment of this programme, NLC India Ltd., a Navratna Enterprise of Govt. of India was entrusted with the establishment of 20 MWp Solar Power Plant at Attampahad and Dollygunj. The total project cost is around Rs.130. 77 Crores of which 40% viability gap funding has been provided by MNRE. This Solar Power Plant, is one of its kind in India, integrated with 8 Megawatt hour Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) for smoothening the Solar Power export to the grid. This is the largest battery bank in India for catering to the variation in solar insolation. The entire project has been accommodated in two locations, one at Attampahad and other at Dollygunj, each of capacity 10 MWp (AC). The expected power output from the plant is 20 MWp (AC) and generation would be 26 MU annually during the initial years. The power would be fed to the electricity grid and the levelized tariff for the units A&N Administration's Green Initiative in Power Sector - Boost to Economy Major milestone achieved: 20 MWp Solar Power Plant with Battery commissioned at Attampahad & Dollygunj Day peak power requirement of Port Blair & South Andaman being met through solar energy from July 1 substantial portion of the day peak requirement of Port Blair & South Andaman will be met through Solar Power. This power plant from 1st July, 2020 onwards is delivering full power to the grid during the day time, as per the availability of solar insolation. This will bring down the annual diesel consumption by approximately 5000 KL, thereby causing a saving of approximately Rs.20 crores to 25 crores annually to the Govt. exchequer and also shall reduce the carbon footprint in these Islands. This saving can be diverted towards other developmental activities, which shall open up new opportunities under holistic reforms for these Islands. One major milestone under the initiative of ‘Greening of the Islands’ has been achieved by Port Blair, July 4 The A & N Administration endeavors to provide all health facilities locally in the Islands itself. It has been a long cherished demand of the Islanders to set up Cardiac Catherization Unit in A & N Islands, so that cases of Cardiac disease can be handled at G.B.Pant Hospital itself. In pursuit of this, the Health Department tried to set up the Cath Lab in PPP mode in collaboration with some reputed Hospitals in mainland. However, not much success has been achieved, as there was very poor response from the mainland hospitals. The Health Department could not set up its own Cath Laboratory, as there was no qualified manpower available with the Department, to operate it. Now, the Administration has got one Specialist Cardiologist, who is specialized in cardiac interventions like Coronary Angiogram, Angioplasty including Primary Angioplasty, PTMS, implantation of permanent pacemaker etc. Keeping this in view, the Health Department of UT Administration has now decided for procurement and installation of Single Plane Cardiac Catherization Unit for G B Pant Hospital, Port Blair. This will provide great relief to the patients who are suffering from Cardiac related disease. Presently, the UT Administration is referring all critical cases of Cardiac disease to mainland under Andaman and Nicobar Islands Scheme for Health Insurance (ANISHI). During the last five years, the Department has referred 573 cases related to Angiogram and 34 cases of heart block requiring pacemaker implantation. Last year itself, 174 cases for Angiogram and 14 cases of heart block requiring pacemaker implantation were referred to mainland for treatment. The setting up of Single Plane Cardiac Catherization Unit at G B Pant Hospital will Great relief for Cardiac Patients GB Pant Hospital to install Single Plane Cardiac Catherisation Unit save a considerable amount of funds, besides providing relief and comfort to the patients requiring C a r d i a c Interventions. In this regard, the Administration has already floated a tender on 16.06.2020 for supply and installation of Single Plane Cardiac Catherization Unit at G B Pant Hospital. It is expected that the facility will start functioning from October, 2020, a press release from Principal Secretary (Health) said. received is expected to be Rs.6.65 per unit. The power plant was partly commissioned on December, 2018.The equipment testing works were completed and pre-commissioning activities had started in mid-June, 2020. Thereafter the plant was commissioned in blocks of 5 MWp with equivalent BESS from 25th June onwards and has been fully commissioned with equivalent battery on 30th June, 2020. With the full commissioning of this 20 MWp Power Plant, New Delhi, July 4 (PIB) With an objective to support and build a strong ecosystem for Indian Apps, MeitY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology), GoI in partnership with Atal Innovation Mission - NITI Aayog has launched Digital India AatmaNirbhar Bharat App Innovation Challenge for Indian tech entrepreneurs and Startups. Financial Literacy Evolution of Money : Money is anything which is generally accepted as a medium of exchange and measure of value. Money as we know and use today, is the end product of a long process. Since barter system had many drawbacks, with the discovery of metals, it began to be used as money. Small metal pieces, with fixed weight and vase bearing an official seal appeared in the 6th century B.C. Predominantly gold and silver were used to mint coins. During the Mauryan period copper was also used to mint coins. Sher Shah Suri issued silver coins and termed it as ‘Rupiya’. The world is said to be derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Rupya’, which means a coin of silver. In India the earliest issue of rupee in the form of paper currency was by the Bank of Hindustan. After independence, followed by accession of princely states, Reserve Bank of India issued Indian National Rupee (INR) notes on behalf of the Govt. Indian rupee has universally recognized symbol (``) since 2010 designed by D. Udaya Kumar, an architect turned designer from Tamil Nadu.
