Joseph Lallo & Sara Zazo will

be hosting the 1st Melbourne

Saxophone Workshop for VCE

and University Saxophonists.

The workshop will be two

intense days of music activities

and performances centred

around the saxophone, and

each student will have the

chance to study with these

exciting young

international performers.

Not only will each participant

receive the tools to enhancetheir individual performance,

but they will perform as partof a young & active

saxophone community.

Spanish saxophinist Sara Zazo Romero beganstudying Saxophone at the age of 7. She

completed her secondary education in music atthe Badajoz Conservatory of Music

under the tutelage of Vicente Contador.

Amoung numerous awards, Sara won the secondprize in the 2001 National Performers Competitionof Bollullos, Spain, and first prize in Orchestra

Conducting on the national television proogram“El Conciertazo” TVE, Madrid, in 2002.

In the Regional Competitions of Almendralejo,Badajoz, Sara has won the second prize in 2004,2005 and 2006. She was winner of the Ruta

Quetzal scholarship given by BBVA Bank for hersaxophone quartet composition, and went on totour Guatemala, Belize and Mexico in 2006.Sara won the second prize in the First

International Young Performers Competition inVila de Cruces, Spain. In 2008, Sara toured

Germany as member of the Orchestral AcademySchleswig Holstein Music Festival.

In 2009, Sara gave the Spanish premier of theHenri Tomasi Concerto for Saxophone and

Orchestra, under the direction of Xavier Puig andthe Symphony Orchestra of the CSB. That sameyear, she performed with the Young Orchestra ofExtremadura and the Orchestra of Extremadura.

Sara completed her music degree at the SuperiorConservatory of Badajoz in 2010, where sheobtained a perfect score and was awardedHonors with High Distinction. She also obtainedthe `Premio Extraordinario´ Award in Saxophone

for her recital.

Sara recently completed the second year of apostgraduate degree at the BordeauxConservatoire, France, with renowned

pedagogue and performer Marie-BernardetteCharrier, obtaining all High Distinctions.

During 2011 and 2012, Sara has performed as asoloist and chamber musician in numerous

European cities, and this year will be making herfirst tour to Australia.

Joseph Lallo is an Australian Classical andContemporary Saxophonist, currently based in

France.

In 2009, Joseph completed his Bachelor of Musicat the University of Melbourne with Barry Cockroft

and Ian Godfrey, and was awarded TheCatherine Grace McWilliam Bequest for

achieving the top result in the degree. He wasalso awarded the 2008 Rogowski SaxophoneScholarship, the 2009 Donovan Johnston TravelScholarship, and in 2011 was awarded a Skills andDevelopment Grant from the Australian Arts

Council.

In 2009, Joseph travelled to France to attend theEuropean University of Saxophone Summer

Camp, where he studied privately and undertookmaster-classes with Claude Delangle, Vincent

David and Jean-Denis Michat.

Joseph has completed a year degree withMaribe-Bernadatte Charrier, recieving HighDistinctions as a soloist and chamber nusician.

Joseph has performed in Paris at the Associationdes Saxophonists conference on‘Saxophoneand Electro-Acoustic Music'. He premiered theSaxophone Quartet ‘Italica’ at the CervantesInstitute of Bordeau, by Alfonso Romero-Gomez,and performed as a soloist at the Bordeaux 2011

Arts Festival ‘Evento’.

In 2010 he was a featured artist on AustralianComposer Katy Abbots CD‘Sunburnt

Aftertones'. He has performed twice as a soloiston 103.5 3MBS Melbourne Radio, and at the 2011CLASAX Melbourne International Festival. Here,Joseph premiered works by Pierre Jodlowski,Mauricio Sotelo, and Marie-Hélène Fournier.

Joseph has given a number of master classesand presentations on contemporary music andart to Australian High School students, introducingthem to, and educating them about the genre.He has also given master classes and guestperformances at the University of Melbourne

Faculty of Music.
