ROTARY INTERNATIONAL: MR. K. R. RAVINDRAN The year 2015 saw Him Jyoti School, Dehradun, successfully complete a decade in
providing education to the girl children of Uttararkhand. The state was enriched by yet an-other eminent contribution by Shri Sudarshan Agarwal, ex-governor of Uttarakhand & Sikkim, in the form of Him Jyoti Vocational Institute—that seeks to prepare girls for self employment by taking up different vocational courses after completion of their Class XII. Both these insti-tutions are indeed a blessing for the state of Uttarakhand. On the 11th of February, 2016, Him Jyoti Vocational Institute was formally inaugurated by Shri K. R. Ravindran, President of Rotary International, who was also the esteemed Chief Guest of the day. Dr. Manoj Desai, Director, Rotary International; Shri David Hilton, Rotary District Governor and Shri R.K. Saboo, ex-President of Rotary International, were among the other dignitaries who graced the occasion as Guests of Honour. The Vocational Institute provides courses under the expert guidance of a select faculty of trainers. The infrastructure of the building is undoubtedly a sight to behold. It has well-equipped computer labs, sewing and dress making sections and other amenities that are at par with international standards. The inauguration started with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by our revered guests. However, the limelight of the day was stolen by the eloquent rendition of the famous Shylock speech quoted from The Merchant of Venice. This was followed by other gripping cultural events. The immense éclat of the performers left the audience spellbound. The program concluded with inspiring speeches by Shri Sudarshan Agarwal; Shri Kashi Nath Memani, President, Him Jyoti Foundation and Mrs. Jyoti Dhawan , Principal, Him Jyoti School.

Ripples……. HARD WORK LEADS TO SUCCESS
Hard work is the key to success. Nothing can be achieved without hard work. It has been well said, “Great heights by great men were reached, not attained by sudden flight, But because while their companions slept, they were toiling upwards in the night.” Constant vigilance and preparedness is required to achieve success in life. Work is a privilege and a pleas-ure; idleness is a luxury that none can afford. Man is born to work and prosper in life. He, like steel, shines when used and rusts in rest. Work is worship. It exalts man if it is done honestly. Those who toil are, sooner or later, rewarded with luck and success. A man of action believes in living in the present. There is no tomorrow for him. He makes the best of his time. Life is full of strife. Life is action. Activity is the law of nature. A life of idleness is a life of shame and dis-grace. Industry is the key to success. Industry makes and idleness mars a nation. Greatness can be achieved by great labour only. If a man exercises regularly both his physical and mental faculties, he enjoys sound health which is the only wealth a man can really boast of. He also builds a moral character. Nobody on earth leaves a name, to pos-terity without real work. Surely, one must live a life that inspire others. A man of action and iron will carry everything before him and, instead of living a life controlled by circumstances, will himself control them. Not poverty but idleness is a great curse. If we waste time, time shall waste us. A life crammed with work is a life bubbling with joy. Great men of the world were born in cottages but they died in palaces. America’s famous President Abraham Lincoln was born in a log cabin in the forest. He could not afford a lamp and read borrowed books with light of the fire in the hearth. And yet by dint of hard work, he rose to be the greatest man of his time. Stalin the late Prime Minister of Russia, was the son of a mere cobbler! To sum up the greatness and success lie in hard, honest and selfless work.

Enjoying every bit of it,
You are a gift of nature, and a reason
for us to breathe,
Your sweet fragrance cools and calms
us down when we are in need.
