Decision of big majority of European MFs at Ljubliana Congress
Need to have more European competitions under National vests
Need to increase viewers of European Athletics
Need to create new European athletes heroes and not to wait 4 years for it in order to fight the increasing influence of American and African athletes
Need to increase finantially in order to support all European athletics activities
Need........
Reflection on 2012
Helsinki has been a great advance in our common project to develop Athletics in Europe, but we have to improve our support to this competition in the future.
Our main stakeholders (EBU, Sponsors) are satified with it, but they request to do it better.
There are facts that we all know that shows that not all the MF have consider in the same way our Champiosnhips in 2012.
It’s very easy to see in the following charts how each MF has decided to act when they have select their teams for Helsinki.

DELIVERING ON THE DAYMedals or Season’s Best (or better) During London 2012
On average only 29.1% of European athletes „delivered“ in London.
Why did the European women deliver better than the men?
Why are the Americans and Jamaicans delivering better than the Europeans?
Is it the fault of the ECH?
What implications does this have for our performance management and coaching systems?

Reflection on 2012
1. Why did some of your top athletes did not compete in Helsinki?
Group A - Injured athletes and risk of injury for top athletes - Athletes and coaches own decision to participate - ECH not mandatory for OGs qualification - Too close to NCH or Trials - Different system in OGs and ECH concerning Q rounds (eg.
SP) - Traditional and successful training conceptions (RUS) - Climate problem and late start of season
Group B • Nearly all top athletes took part, with the exception of those
injured.
• Some of the top athletes competing in different disciplines than their «normal» events. i.e. Combined events athletes.
• Coach perception is also an important factor

Group C
•Mentality in athletes and coaches: European athletes focus more on training than competing
•North american and caribean athletes start competing earlier and compete continously which prepare them better for the Olympic games
•Mistakes at technical events is more likely than in non technical events
•Some European athletes compete with injuries

3. Considering the data given about the WJCH, do you consider that World/European Junior Championships should be questioned?
Group A
To continue with the EJCH and study the U23 calendarGroup B
Keep the junior championships, important to be attractive vs other sports for the young.
Dont need the youth championships.
Need a careful balance
Group C
The whole group is in favor of keeping the juniors championships as it is a step of development and not a final objective.
