Lakewood PrideLakewood Pride
From the Board of DirectorsLakewood Golf & Country Club
As the summer has drawn to a close, I would like to thank everyone for their continued sup-port of your club. Covid has presented all of us with several challenges across these past six months and a certain level of stress. As we continue to move forward I hope we can all see the club as an escape from the everyday and remember this period has been stressful for all of our members and the employees of the club as well. As such, I would ask each of us to communicate with each other in respectful ways, understanding we may not know everything the person on the other side of the conversation is dealing with that day.
If an issue arises at the club which cannot be easily resolved please reach out personally to a board member. Our staff has hung in with us during a time they could have significantly in-creased their pay by drawing unemployment; a quick thank you and a pat on the back would go a long way to show we appreciate them.
The board knows everything at the club isn’t perfect. We have a set of challenges being located in a smaller community that many similar clubs across the nation have not been able to overcome. So, to kick start the process of improvement I am calling a membership meeting on Monday, October 5th at 6PM to discuss what we know is broken and then I want to have a constructive conversation on how we are going to improve going forward. While I cannot promise you Augusta National, I want Lakewood to be the best it can be for ALL of our members.

The days are shorter, and the nights are cooler; fall is officially here! The weather is perfect for outdoor dining or evening drinks with all your Lake-wood friends. While we are unlikely to see our usual influx of outside events this banquet season, we would love to see more of our members. Perhaps a game night or movie night? We are open to ideas and welcome volunteers! Trivia has been postponed until after the new year due to decreased partic-ipation and while we understand the need to socially distance, we hope to find a way to see you all more often.
Burger Night is back!
Beginning Wednesday October 7th, we will have burgers for $5 (with fries for $7.99) every Wednesday from 5 – 8 pm. Don’t forget to end your meal on a sweet note with one of our 3 flavors of ice cream from our friends at The Ice Cream Distillery. We have Dark Side, Sweet Cream and 19th Green Pistachio.

As a team, the Lady Wildcats put up a 158 during the Sun Drop Classic Invitational, on their way to a sec-ond-place tournament during the Manchester tournament at WillowBrook Golf Course Wednesday.
Mallory TeVrucht led the Tullahoma girls’ team by putting up a 77 on the day. Her performance placed her tied for third in the individual standings.
Ava Catherine Banks added an 81 for the Lady Wildcats. Grace Hicks and Sara Wallace Whitt also carded rounds, turning in an 86 and 100, respectively. Hicks’ and Wallace Whitt’s scores did factor into Tullahoma’s final tally. In high school girls’ golf, a team’s top two performers determine a team’s overall score. (Click link for full story.)

The 2020 Lakewood Cup is complete and the winner of this year’s Match Play League Event is Steve Cope. Steve was 2nd place in his flight but got hot at the right time and cruised to his first Lakewood Cup title. Mr. Cope had to come from behind in the semifinal match against Tommy Clem and held on to win in extra holes.
