Some beli eve that a war will not be staged sinc e both of t hem k n o w they b o t h w ou ld s u ffer a g r eat d e al of damage and a war might be a prolong ed one . On the othe r hand , s o m e interpret that the l o n g e r the present c on fl i c t c o n tin u e s , the h a r de r fo r t h e Soviet s to deal with Communist China . W e also have information t hat the Soviet military takes a hawkish att itude . One t h ing i s cert ain , though - - t he pre s ent con flict will not be solved in t h e n e ar future.
