R.I.P. Sis Vivian Jackson-Scott 9/11/07 Now we shed peaceful tears because you are gone, but we smile because you lived. We are happy for tomorrow because of our yesterdays with you. We remember you and cherish the memories and let them live on, We strive to do what you would want: smile, open our eyes, love and go on. Because God has you in his keepings, we have you in our hearts. Life will go on, but never will be the same, your beautiful smile is gone, but it will always remain. You're our angel above. You'll always be missed, but most importantly... loved. We know that you are peacefully at rest because God only takes the best. By: Cindy

My Condolences for the Family August 31, 2011
Isaiah 25:8: He will actually swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will certainly wipe the tears from all faces. And the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for Jehovah himself has spoken [it].
Revelation 21: 3, 4: " With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. 4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

I MISS VIVIAN SOOOOOOOOO MUCH April 21, 2010
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. If tears could build a stairway,And memories a lane,I'd walk right up to Heaven And bring you home again. As you comprehend this profound loss, let yourself cry knowing each tear is a note of love rising to the heavens.
Ron Only See you later September 12, 2009
It must be hard to see such a good person pass on without us. But I am sorry for your loss. She was such a beautiful person with a wonderful spirit.
Chineeta Jackson (Skutta-Bug)
R.I.P. Auntie Vern September 11, 2008
Girl, how did you do this to us
Now dealing without you is a must
You know it is hard for me To look for you where you'll never be
I know you're in a better place
But it's hard to go without seeing your face
Everyday I think of you
And how you'd drop by out of the blue How I wish I could see you again
Anywhere on this earth no matter when
People talk about how scary it seems
You're still in my heat,my soul, and my dreams
It's no secret you'll never let me go
Even when times get hard I know That I can always look up to the sky
And know your watching me
With a twinkle in your eye
You always kept a smile on your face
A positive outlook for every case A very dependable person you were
Loyal, trustworthy, I must concur
Now that you're really gone
I don't know what to do
Living without you... Is feeling like I havent a clue
But on top of everything else
You're still my number one hero
I never really stopped to think
That I could loose you within a blink I really wish I'd took advantage
Of the way you'd always manage
And no one can ever replace you
I will always cherish you, Love You,
And never will I put anything above you
You are my idol
And your wishes I will carry through

LEGACY OF LOVE LEGACY OF LOVE September 11, 2008
To My Dearest Family:
Some things I'd like to say
but first of all to let you know
that I arrived okay
I'm writing this from Heaven
where I dwell with God above
where there's no more tears
or sadness there
is just eternal love
Please do not be unhappy
just because I'm out of sight
remember that I'm with you
every morning, noon and night
That day I had to leave you
when my life on Earth was through
God picked me up and hugged me
and He said I welcome you
It's good to have you back again
you were missed while you were gone
as for your dearest family
they'll be here later on
I need you here so badly
as part of My big plan
there's so much that we have to do
to help our mortal man
Then God gave me a list of things
He wished for me to do
and foremost on that list of mine
is to watch and care for you
And I will be beside you
every day and week and year
and when you're sad
I'm standing there
to wipe away the tear
And when you lie in bed at night
the days chores put to flight
God and I are closest to you
in the middle of the night
When you think of my life on Earth
and all those loving years
because you're only human
they are bound to bring you tears
But do not be afraid to cry
it does relieve the pain
remember there would be no flowers
unless there was some rain
I wish that I could tell you
of all that God has planned
but if I were to tell you
you wouldn't understand
But one thing is for certain
though my life on Earth is o're
I am closer to you now
than I ever was before
And to my very many friends
trust God knows what is best
I'm still not far away from you
I'm just beyond the crest
There are rocky roads ahead of you
and many hills to climb
but together we can do it
taking one day at a time
It was always my philosophy
and I'd like it for you too
that as you give unto the World
so the World will give to you
If you can help somebody
who is in sorrow or in pain
then you can say to God at night
my day was not in vain
And now I am contented
that my life it was worthwhile
knowing as I passed along the way
I made somebody smile
So if you meet somebody
who is down and feeling low
just lend a hand to pick him up
as on your way you go
When you are walking
down the street
and you've got me on your mind
I'm walking in your footsteps
only half a step behind
And when you feel the gentle breeze
or the wind upon your face
that's me giving you a great big hug
or just a soft embrace
And when it's time for you to go
from that body to be free
remember you're not going
you are coming here to me
And I will always love you
from that land way up above
Will be in touch again soon
P.S. God sends His Love

Memoriesall the gray you turned into colors...
We first met when I was working for the Dept of Education and was relocating to Gainesville. You were pregant and you befriended me, and you became a true friend. We laughed, cried and helped each other to do our best on and off the job. When ever you needed some help with your program I was right there. When ever I needed to talk, you listened. You told me secrets, and I told you secrets. I moved away to New Jersey in 1999, and we still talked. In my last conversation, I invited you to bring your daughterfor a visit and we'd go to New York and have a ball. Although we lost contact, I never forgot the friend that you were to me. I will never forget your unconditional love that you had for people. I wil never forget you, my friend.

I was just talking to Jackie, your best buddy classmate and reminiscing how you were always a good neighbor/friend willing to listen and how we cried on each other's shoulders. As Joe's cuz, you sorta "introduced" them or "talked to Jackie for Joe" smile. Working in our father's tobacco fields, etc. "yes, the good times that made us laugh" as the song just said...
I didn't realize that you even passed on Joe's birthday. And Jackie just reminded me that your father passed on her birthday. wow!
We all miss you Viv. Your wisdom and desire to see the children of Hamilton County succeed, whether family or friends. Hamilton County and the school system just haven't been the same since you were called home. I miss your passion and the love you had for our children!!!
Oh, and I miss your mama's Teacakes, 'cause you could get her to bake some when no one else could.
(smile)
We will all see you again when we meet our maker!!! R.I.P.

In her honor the past School Superintendent honored her by starting the " The Vivian J. Scott Reading Award" which is given in her honor to fifth, eighth and twelfth grade students who demonstrate the most improvement in reading for that year at each of the schools in Hamilton County. As she was an outstanding advocate for reading instruction."

I know that I've said it time and time again, thank you. I miss the support you gave me through my divorce and with my career goals. You never allowed me to make excuses or gave me the opportunity to wallow in self pity. You inspired my goals far beyond anything else in my life. And though we'd had this conversation many times it seems that I still speak to you when I am at a crossroad in my life. I don't call on others for that support any more but I do think about what you would say to me. "Do what feels right and the rest will fall into place." I miss you dearly.

A poem Vern shared with me, ''when I told her I was going to start back to college to be a teacher'' by my other ''Mother'' the sister that
took me when Momma had to go to work took me as her little baby. My sister Mary Ann took my sister a year older than myself as her little baby.

I dreamed I stood in a studio and watched two sculptors there.
The clay they used was a young child's mind and they fashioned it with care.
One was a Teacher--the tools he used were books, music and art.
The other, a Parent, worked with a guiding hand and a gentle, loving heart.
Day after day, the Teacher toiled with a touch that was careful, deft and sure.
While the Parent labored by his side and polished and smoothed it o'ver.
And when at last their task was done they were proud of what they had wrought.
For the things they had molded into the child could neither be sold nor bought.
And each agreed they would have failed if each had work alone.
For behind the Parent stood the school and behind the Teacher, the home.
My other momma, my loving sister, my neighbor and my friend gone but I will never for get our walking each other half way home. Sometime I walk halfway to your house just to feel your presence walking back. I miss you and will always love you but we know that God loves you best.

We will never forget times of your interest of always wanting to get together and to want to know everything of what was going on with all your sisters and brothers, in-laws , their children and children and last but not least your cuzins as well. We miss the sharing of family information from Miami to California...And especially providing the ox-tails, red velvet cake and PEACH COBBLER . As well as providing us with the faith and how to remain strong in the midst of all the storms... sickness and in health. Your will lives on in each of us. I miss you dearly. And especially when I spend the night at mommas the phone calls that came from you around 7am each morning. You shared a special relationship with each of us.
Rest Peacefully sis.

She was a beloved , courageous and determined woman. She was the second eldest of eleven children. She worked diligently and had a strong passion for reading. Her early childhood years involved work which included vegetable planting, tobacco harvesting, picking cotton and preserving fruits and vegetables. In the midst of all the work she managed to attain literature to read daily. She was venturous and desired various challenges. Her siblings were the first students. She set the precedent and followed with reinforcement throughout her life. Vivian took her biggest step as an adolescent, when she chose to leave JRE Lee High School and enter the walls of Hamilton County High School. She was a member of the first class to graduate after integration in 1970. According to her recollections, it was a strong struggle for equal treatment. Then she followed by attending North Florida Junior College; graduated and went on to earn her Bachelor’s in Early Education from The University of West Florida. Her mother and siblings worked very hard to support her through school. Vivian interned in Gainesville, Florida while residing with her aunt. She then returned to Jasper and began teaching Title I Reading at Hamilton Middle School. She taught for approximately 13 years in the classroom. In that realm, she continued her educational pursuit of her Masters Degree from NOVA University and then Specialist/Educational Leadership from FAMU/FSU. Her next career move was accepting the role as an administrator with the Hamilton County School Board . Whereas, she also had many other roles within the system which included involvement in Migrant Education, Reading, and Title I Programs. She was instrumental in bringing many grants to the school district such as the Reading First Grant. She received national recognition for her involvement in Federal Programs.
She was affiliated with numerous professional and community organizations such as President of the FAMU Alumni Chapter, Vice President and Scholar Chairperson of the FASFEP, participant in the Relay for Life, School Tutor, Mt. Pleasant AME Church Steward Board and the church choir, Cuz Club and last but not least her love and joy was her membership in the Kappa Eta Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Her last venture involved her purchase and ownership of Kiddie Learner’s Day Care. She knew her calling was to make a difference in the community by contributing to the education of children through reading. Vivian was certainly a champion for the children and their success in Hamilton County Schools and a strong advocate for reading and lastly a professional supporter of NCLB. She enjoyed her family, job, community and being involved. She also enjoyed participating in all of her family reunions. Even through her illness she maintained strength, courage and will to persevere by encouraging her family day by day. She was married with two wonderful children that she cherished dearly. Our chain is broken, but we will link again.
