A memorial is a lasting symbol of remembrance, a tribute to alife now ended, perhaps a final gift to someone dearly loved. It istherefore extremely important that its design should be carefullychosen.
Our brochure has been created to offer you memorial designs inall of the traditionally used materials. Included in these are thefinest of Italian marbles, coloured granites from all corners of theworld and natural stone such as Nebresina, Sandstone andBrenna which all originate from the British Isles.
If you are unable to find a suitable memorial within thisbrochure, our knowledgeable staff will be pleased to talk youthrough suggestions and prepare a unique memorial to suit yourpersonal requirements.

Memorials for Cemeteries
Cemeteries are council maintained or privately-ownedand usually allow memorials made from any naturalmaterial. However, memorials must comply with thesizes restrictions laid down by the cemeteryregulations which, in many cases, restrict the use ofcertain types of memorial, in certain sections of thecemetery.
Memorials for Churchyards
Permission for memorials can only be given by theincumbent vicar if they comply with the rules laiddown by the local diocese. Only memorials with anunpolished finish are allowed in churchyards and insome areas, designs are restricted. Suitable materialsinclude medium and light grey granites, Yorkstone andPurbeck. White marble memorials are not generallypermitted but designs in Nebresina, which is buffcoloured, are quite acceptable.
Permit Fees
Permit fees are charged by both cemeteries andchurchyards and these will need to be added to thecost of the memorial.
Stone
You will notice there are many different colours anddesigns in the headstones and memorials; these are allinterchangeable, although some motifs will not showclearly on lighter coloured stones. Granite is very hardand durable and therefore not affected by weatheringand is easy to maintain. The slightly softer marble,Nebresina and Sandstone however, lends itself to moreintricate designs and allows delicate carvings and details.
Important information regarding estimated manufacturing & delivery times
• Orders for standard brochure designs will take approximately 12-16 weeks to manufacture AND deliverfrom the date we receive your signed order and deposit.
• If your order is for a non-standard memorial, it is quite likely that the manufacturing and delivery time willbe greater than the above estimated time.
Our Guarantee
We always want to exceed your expectations with thememorial we produce. In the unlikely event that youdo find a fault in what we’ve made for you, or if a faultappears over time, we offer conformity guarantees ofthree years, for both work and materials, from the dateof completion.
We guarantee to keep the memorial level, free ofcharge, for a period of three years from the date offitting.

As members of NAMM (National Association ofMemorial Masons), we are required to work to agreedstandards of business andworking practice. The NAMMCode of Working Practice is therecognised standard used by allreputable memorial masons inthe UK.
All fixing work is carried outby our own masons who havebeen professionally trained andhave attained accreditedqualifications.
We are able to offer aguarantee that all memorials wesupply or renovate will be to the standards laid out inthe Code of Working Practice in force at the time thework is carried out.

MAINTENANCE PLANSRowland Brothers offer a comprehensive grave care and
memorial tending service, providing you with regularmaintenance of the final resting place of friends, familyand loved ones. We provide a range of high qualityservices, including regular upkeep of graves and plots,planting of seasonal bulbs and plants, flower displays andmemorial refurbishment. So whether you are located toofar away, are unable to manage the upkeep yourself, orsimply find visiting too emotional, we can help you in theknowledge that the work will be conducted with bothcare and dignity.
At each scheduled visit all tending is undertaken by handin keeping with the peace and tranquillity of thecemetery / churchyard by our specialist grave carers andincludes the following maintenance:
• Removal of weeds
• Removal of all debris (old flowers, plants and otherlitter)
• Washing of memorial pot liners
• Light cleaning of headstone/memorial
• Light washing of decorative aggregate
• Light pruning of any bushes on the grave
• A before & after photograph for your records sent viapost or email
We also offer the additional services:
Freshly cut flowers
Rowland Brothers can arrange for a choice of freshly cutflowers to ensure that the grave is looking its best whichour specialist carer will hand deliver to your loved ones’final resting place.
Planting of seasonal bulbs or plants
Our specialist grave carers will be pleased to plant out thegrave with seasonal bedding plants or bulbs at any ofyour chosen tendings.
Memorial repairs and grave vases
If we discover that the memorial or kerb edging requiresrepair or additional maintenance, we can provide youwith detailed photographs and a written report. Inaddition, we will inform you if we believe that the plotmay require the replacement of old or 'lost' grave vases,the renewal of stone, pebble or slate chippings, or anyturfing or top soil work.
We can provide you with a 'no obligation' quote toundertake any of these repairs, renewals or replacementswhich we can then complete during subsequent visits. Aspecialist monumental mason would carry out any repairsthat may be necessary to the memorial or the inscription.
Special dates
You can choose to have your tendings carried out aroundspecial dates of your choice, perhaps to commemorate abirthday or anniversary.

Subsidence and accidental damage are very common issues.StoneGuard® can ensure damage, from minor repairs to totalreplacement is rectified very quickly from as little as £5.60 a year.
The StoneGuard® Memorial Stone Insurance is an “All Risks” policy.Typically, claims we receive are as a result of damage from lawnmowers, falling trees and subsidence, or from preventative measurestaken by local councils when they feel a memorial stone may beunsafe.
What’s not covered?
There are some exclusions which apply to this policy, includingdepreciation, wear and tear and damage caused over time bysunlight and weather. Cleaning, repair and restoration - other thanthat following insured damage - is also excluded.
